Enrollments Slightly Ahead of Last Year; Teaching Assignments Made
First-day registration at Anaheim union high school was virtually the same as last year, while the enrollment in the seven schools in the Anaheim elementary district exceeded that of the first day last year by 34 students, school authorities reproted.
When classes opened at Anaheim union high school Monday there were 1050 students enrolled. Authorities expect an additional approximate 50 pupils to register before the close of the week.
The total enrollment in the elementary schools was 1257, as compared to 1223 for the first day last September. The increase was recorded in spite of the fact that registration at La Palma school totalled only 67, because of the Mexican celebration. The number was more than doubled Tuesday bringing the total to 135 pupils. Gains were made in other schools Tuesday, also.
Monday's registrations were La Palma, 67; Horace Mann, 153; George Washington, 184; Broadway, 138; Benjamin Franklin, 261; Lincoln, 128, and Fremont, 292.

Know Your Orange County
Editor's note: Following is another of a series of special articles on Orange county communities. These articles are being prepared and distributed under direction of the Orange County Associated Chambers of Commerce. Another will follow at an early date.
Buena Park is located on Highways No. 10, 39, 14 and 101 Alternate, the Santa Fe and Southern Pacific railways, 21 miles southeast of Los Angeles. All around development is the keynote industrially, commercially and from the standpoint of home development it is truly the "Gateway to Orange County."
In ten years the community has leaped from a dozing cross roads village to a thriving business center wherein are concentrated a half-dozen large scale industries and the most unique farm-to-consumer type of business in the Southland. Knott's Berry Place is the most widely known business of its kind in the United States, in 1920, a little roadside stand selling a few boxes of berries to passersby; in 1927 a small tea room seating 20 people; in 1940 a modern commodious eating establishment serving chicken dinners to 4000 to 5000 persons on Sundays and holidays and to hundreds throughout the week. Knott employs 300 local people. The most renowned industry in Buena Park is the transmitter of radio station KFI. This key station of NBC has extremely modern equipment releasing 50,000 watts and is manned by experienced technicians.

The Glidden Co., vegetable division, is an oil mill for the extraction of oil bearing seed nuts, crushing yearly 10,000 of California grown flaxseed, ing oil in the manufacture paints and the meal in dairy cattle feed.
Rittenhouse Bros. Hatchery
The Uddo Taormina Corp.'s new $20,000 plant expects hatch 1,000,000 chicks during L.
A cattle feed yard at the moundry of Buena Park was built in 1887. Today the Edgebelt Milling and Feed yard, which equipped to grind 50 tons of daily and care for 3000 head cattle also maintains a weed stock auction.
The large number of daisy surrounding Buena Park are not worthy.
Commercial growth has pace with the rapidly expanding metropolitan area of which Buena Park is the eastern outpost. It are located a bank, stores shops and motel adequate to meet the community needs.
Development of the Manche highway giving easy access down-town Los Angeles was less than three quarters of hour is rapidly making Buena Park the "east bedroom" of metropolitan area. More than homes wree built in the past years and over 20 are now up construction.
Within the next few years Manchester highway will become modern six lane freeway bringing Los Angeles factories within minutes of our city. Hundred will seek the advantages of where taxes are low and adages of small town life so close to the great metropolis.Fan
