Wecker Concert Is Well Attended Anaheim city park's Greek theater was well filled last Friday evening for the concert by the Los Angeles WPA symphony orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Karl A. Wrecker, boyhood resident of Anaheim. After the concert Dr. Wecker expressed his pleasure at the reception Anaheim music lovers gave his musicians. A personal request from John C. Tuffree of Placentia was largely responsible for the orchestra's and Dr. Wecker's appearance in Anaheim. Mrs. Tuffree is a cousin of Dr. Wecker and when the latter appeared here earlier in the summer as a speaker on one of the park programs Tuffree asked him to bring the Los Angeles orchestra to this city. Dr. Wecker announced the selections to be played, and dedicated one to Mrs. Kate E. Lee of Balboa, mother of Mrs. Tuffree and his own aunt, who was present. Los Angeles is one of six cities in the United States having a population of more than 1,000,000. ST. MICHAEL'S EPISCOPAL The Rev.D. Howard Dow, Rector. CHRISTAIN SCIENCE CHURCH "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ." This passage from Romans is the Golden Text in the Lesson-Sermon on "Man" on Sunday in all Churches of Christ, Scientist. A Bible citation includes these words of Jesus from John: "Father, the hour is come; glorify they Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee; As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. . . I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: . . . Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; . . . And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one." One of the selections from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy states: "God, without the image and likeness of Himself, would be a nonentity, or Mind unexpressed. He would be without a witness or proof of His own nature. Spiritual man is the image of idea of God, an idea which cannot be lost nor separated from its divine Principle." Stuart Strathman of Fullerton, field secretary of the Assoc.-tion Farmers of California, told a Ana service club late last month that the time for pussyfooting is "he said." "We must get him to facts and act." Strathman, who is working on the Dies committee and the department of justice, said that communists formerly were outraged, but have resorted to other acts since the government starts investigations of un-Ameri-activities. Since start of the investigations, said the Communists in gen-declare they do not want armament, do not want the draft, and do not stay out of war, in addition to opposing spending any money for adequate defenses. SENT TO JAIL Luis Martinez, 33, of El Modena, was ordered to pay a fine of $100 or spend 50 days in the county jail when he pleaded guilty Tuesday before City Judge Frank Tausch to a charge of driving while drunk. Martinez's operator's license was also revoked. Strathman declared. Of these, one-third were "sucked in," he said, not knowing what they were doing. The second-third know partially what they are doing, and the remainder know "what it's all about," he said. Strathman also said there are between 4,000,000 and 6,000,000 persons in this country who are and who practice the doctrines of Nazis, Fascists and Communists.
