Kuchel to the state senate. Leader in the Amercian Legion's Americanization program in Orange county, and newly-appointed chairman of the national defense committee in his home community, Nicodemus said he would support Kuchel at the primary election, August 27, "because he is the kind of American I mean; the kind who stands squarely for Americanism; who is American in spirit as well as in name." Nicodemus praised the record of Kuchel as an assemblyman. "We always knew where he stood. He never temporized nor compromised with any person or issue that savored of the subversive. His support of the measure that prohibits use of school buildings for meetings of Communists was a fair sample of his attitude," said the Brea veteran. "When we have that kind of an American available for public office, I say we are to be congratulated," he added, especially when we find such Americanism linked to a lot of legislative ability and sound judgment, as shown by Kuchel's economy record, his procurement of flood relief financing, his fight against SRA maladministration, and many other Pastor Will Speak At Wesley Church Rev. "Like others who have been close to Americanization work, I know there is a real problem in this state, more serious than many realize. The character of our lawmakers, therefore, is highly important. In the state senate we want Americans. I think there is no doubt of Thomas Kuchel's election, but I think also that we might just as well make sure of it at the primary." Pedro Barron Faces Charge After Crash Two persons were injured and Pedro Barron, 32, of Anaheim, Rt. 1, Box 251-A, was charged with felony drunk driving and failure to make a boulevard stop as the result of an automobile accident shortly before 9 o'clock Sunday night at the intersection of 101 highway and Ball road, south of Anaheim, according to reports of the California highway patrol. Those hurt were Miss Elizabeth Gilbert, 18, of La Canada, and Simon Correa, of Stanton. Barron, officers charged, failed to make the boulevard stop and crashed into a car operated by Charles R. Lundy, 21, of Alhambra. He posted a $250 bond pending his appearance in Anaheim justice court on August 29. By means of a new system of wiring accessory lights, depressing the toe button on the floorboard of the car eliminates only the right accessory light, leaving some illumination on the road, but away from the eyes of the approaching driver.
