Four Are Injured In Five Accidents None Seriously Hurt During Past Weed End, Survey By Officers Shows Five accidents in Orange county over the past week end resulted in injuries to four persons, according to reports of the Califórnia highway patrol. Roy Young, 62, of 1900 South Ross street, Santa Ana, was struck by a car driven by Claude B. Moss, jr., 20, of Altadena, while pushing his bicycle on Huntington Beach boulevard in New Westminster at 8:15 o'clock Sunday night. Young was rushed to the office of a Garden Grove physician for treatment of a hip injury and later was taken to his home. A collision involving a truck driven by Carl W. Schumacher, 24, of 1504 East Chapman avenue, Orange, and an automobile driven by Mrs. Florence Kiser, 53, of 300 South Cypress avenue, Garden Grove, resulted in minor back and head injuries for Mrs. Kiser. She was given treatment at St. Joseph hospital. In an accident at Walnut street and Esplanade avenue in El Modena at 11 o'clock Sunday morning, Miss Jean Gross, 17, of 291 North Harwood street, Orange, suffered shock and bruises. M. C. Campbell, 53, of Route 4, box 333, Santa Ana, was cut and bruised Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock when his car left Newport boulevard near Palisades road and crashed into a tree. The big handle of a big pocket-book tangled somehow on the arms of the driver, is credited by Seal Beach police with a freak accident there at 11 o'clock Saturday night, when three young peo- High School Notes by SYLVIA GREGG and JEAN MORSE JUNIOR-SENIOR PROM From a large selection of popular bands, George Lewis and his 12-piece orchestra has been signed to play for the junior-senior prom June 12, in the Anaheim high school study hall. Hotel Huntington and Hotel Arroyo del Seco, in Pasadena, are some of the well known places that Lewis and his orchestra have played. The seniors will be guests of the junior class at the dinner and dance. Faculty members and board members are other guests for the evening. Only junior and senior class members of Anaheim high school may attend the prom; as it is a closed affair. Starting at 6:30, the dinner will probably be in the open as the cafeteria is too small for such a large gathering. Red, white, and blue, the junior and senior class colors combined will be the decorations in the study hall. Royal C. Marten, advisor of the junior class, is in charge of the general arrangements of the program and Miss Edith Weber is in charge of the decorations. HONOR SOCIETY BANQUET Virginia Ward and Victor Payse, members of the Honor society will receive lamp pins and life memberships to the California scholarship Federation at their annual banquet this evening at 6 o'clock in the Anaheim high school cafeteria. These awards will be given to them because of their membership to the Honor Society for six semesters, one semester being of their senior year. Famed Pamphlet Rears Head Again The "Fools Rush In" pamphlet case, which upset county political circles prior to the last county election and which was revived last week when a detective agency sued the county for $200 automobile mileage in connection with the case, is resting in the archives again. In the middle of the suit, filed by the Nick Harris detective agency, testimony was interrupted and the matter settled for $75, records of Justice Howard C. Cameron of Santa Ana township, who heard the case show. The judgment was entered following agreement between the plaintiff and the defendant, the county of Orange. CAR RECOVERED An automobile owned by Robert W. Long of 731 North Philadelphia street, which was stolen from in front of his home about 10 days ago, was received last Thursday at Corona, Anaheim police were informed. A. organization held its annual banquet inthe cafeteria Tuesday at the Anaheim high school in true tropical style. A guitar trio; a song by Betty Schneider, Evon Mulvey, and Mavis Link; and accordian numbers by Joan McClary provided entertainment for the affair. A skit was presented by the junior girls and the senior will was read. Guests present were Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Clayes, Mrs. Dorothy Peck, Mrs. Robert Easton, and three former G. A. A. presidents: Jane Ables, Agnes Allen, and Marian Wisser. The banquet was planned by Joyce Ann Hayes, Lorraine Shanks, and Loree Nelson. LANGUAGE CLUB BANQUET The French and German clubs were host to the Spanish club at the combined annual banquet last Thursday at the Anaheim high school cafeteria. The members enjoyed a full course dinner after welcoming addresses were made by Lue Morris for the German club, Esther Benson for the French club, and Teresa Rees for the Spanish club. A dancer was presented by each club; Tillie Sanchez for the Spanish club, Lois Smith for the French club, and Marilyn Hargrove for the German club. Three numbers were played by an orchestra composed of Lorraine Teadale; Naomi Fredrickson go to Lloyd Ross, printing instructor, John B. Kennedy, superintendent of the book, and the staff includes Duncan Wimpress, Jacqueline Murphy, Sylvia Marian Dinkler, Eric Baxter had charge of the club; Alice Power, Loystene St Hazel Grant, and Dwight H Victor Payse and Duane R handled the advertising and bert Heinze and Bill Helling photography. Plans Completed For Pier Opening Fifty workers directed by 11 committee chairmen will serve the big fish fry dinner, planned for 4,000 persons Sunday, June 9, at Newport Beach. The dinner will be complete in every detail and will be served from 11 to 3 o’clock. The fish dinner will mark the formal opening and dedication of the new 1100 foot ocean pier. O. M. Campbell, president of the Business Men's association at Newport Beach, is general chairman. Heading sub-committees are Hayold Thompson, Charlie Artz, Earl Hall, P. V. Parkes, O. M. Campbell, Mrs. Ray Kimball, Ray Kimball, D. K. Blue and many others. A battery of six electric cookers in charge of competent chefs directed by Harry Estus will handle the fish frying. Admiral William M. Garton, of the United States navy, has been invited to perform the ceremonies which will formally open the Newport Beach pier to the public. W. M. Games on the beach will be in charge of Ralph Reed, athletic director of the Newport Harbor union high school, assisted by staff members and students. Members of Troop Have Picnic Supper Boy Scout Troop 71 held a picnic at Santa Ana river Monday night, with the three patrols, Eagle, Beaver and Silver Fox, competing in cooking supper.
