Slum Clearance Will be Studied New Legislative Committee Established; Other Groups Progress Announcement of another legislative investigating committee, on slum clearance and rural housing marked the third week of California's greatest political "house-cleaning" drive. The committee membership was revealed by Speaker Gordon Garland of the state assembly. Assemblyman T. Fenton Knight, La Canada, is chairman and the following assemblymen are members: Don Allen, Augustus Hawkins, John Pelletier, Los Angeles; Godfrey Andreas, Upland; Nelson Dilworth, Hemet; Eleanor Miller, Pasadena; James Thorpe, Lockeford; Clarence Walker, Westmoreland; Fred Weybret, Soledad, and Charles Weber, Stockton. After two weeks of sub-committee meetings throughout the state, the joint senate-assembly committee on investigation of the State Relief administration called a meeting in San Francisco Wednesday for chairmen to plan further action. Senator John Phillips, Banning, and Assemblywoman Jeannette Daley, San Diego, are joint chairmen of the main committee.
