"Twelve local men have been disqualified, and another is facing presecution with a possible fine or jail sentence as a result of making false certifications for unemployment insurance." Roy Ferguson, manager of the Santa Ana office of the department of employment, announced today.
The California Unemployment Insurance act recently amended provides for immediate penalty and court action in cases where willful misstatements are made in order to obtain insurance. Anaheim Cagers Begin Practices
Coach Dick Ryan assembled his varsity and Bee basketball aspirants together last week and is sending them through early season paces in preparation for the Sunset League race which will start after the first of the year.
Prospects in the varsity division are not bright, Ryan having only one letterman back from last year's squad. He is Jimmy Starr, center and forward. The present squad numbers 22 boys, however, and Ryan has hopes of finding several good players in the group.
Most of the players are up from last year's Bee team and are junior and sophomores. Only two seniors are on the squad, which means that the Colonists will be a veteran team next year.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCH
"God the Preserver of Man" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon on Sunday in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, The Golden Text is from the Psalms: "The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore."
Among the Bible selections in the Lesson-Sermon are these words of Jesus from the Gospel according to John: "Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. . . Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world."
A passage from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy includes the statements: "In divine Science, man is sustained by God, the divine Principle of being. The earth, at God's command, brings forth food for man's use: Knowing this, Jesus once said, 'Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink,'"
