Dairy orange concentrate, put out in three qualities of dairy orange, for distribution by the dairies to the consumer. These are Real Gold dairy orange, Lark (27) dairy orange, and Cal-Juices (40) dairy orange. These orange concentrates are derived from the pure juice. They contain no ground pulp, seeds or skin, and are made by the evaporation of the pure orange juice. During evaporation the heat is maintained at not over 98 degrees thus retaining the flavor-giving esters and the natural color. Real Gold dairy orange, when mixed according to directions, will contain 50 per cent pure juice content; the Lark (27) dairy orange in the finished product has a juice content of more than 16 per cent; and the Cal-Juices (40) dairy orange when made up, gives an orange drink containig 12.5 percent orange juice. Lark sherbet base is another of the popular products. While most sherbet bases are made by grinding the whole fruit, peel, pulp and rag, Lark sherbet base is made only from the pure concentrated juice—or, in other words, exactly the same constituents as in the Real Gold orange juice and the Real Gold orangeade concentrate. The plant of Cal-Juices, Inc., also manufactures Lark bottlers' orange and Lark bottlers' lemon; Real Gold lemon juice; orange and lemon oils; Lark super-orange flavoring; an orange meal stock feed, and other citrus products. Lark sherbet base is fast becoming a staple to leading ice cream manufacturers throughout the United States. Sherbet made from this base is exceptionally smooth and possesses the true orange flavor. Lark bottlers' orange and Lark bottlers' lemon are used by soft drink manufacturers in the manufacture of orange and lemon carbonated drinks. Orange and lemon oils are used as the basis of many products; and Lark super orange flavoring is becoming another staple in the manufacture of ice cream, sherbet, and juice bars. It is believed that all animals are color-blind. Congratulations-- TO CAL-JUICES, INC. on your First Birthday and Best Wishes for the Future VICTOR G. LOLY JEWELER 108 W. CENTER ST. ANAHEIM, CAL. Vice President H. K. WILSON, Director, Cal-Juices, Inc. He that would make his own liberty secure must guard even his enemy from oppression.—Thomas Paine. Sale Starts Today With Support of Citrus Stabilization Committee A fourth sales drive to boost citrus growers' income will be staged by chain stores throughout the nation during the week beginning July 13, according to an announcement made today by Harry Damerel, Covina grower and chairman of the California citrus stabilization committee. According to Damerel, this year's citrus crop has presented unusual marketing problems. Florida growers have shipped more oranges late in the season than ever before, which has tended to keep prices low. In addition, 60 per cent of California's crop consists of oranges so small that 288, on an average, can be packed in a box. With the crop running to the smaller sizes, more oranges will have to be sold to return the growers' cost of production. Lemons, grapefruit and limes will also be featured in the week-long campaign in retail stores, Damerel pointed out. This year's lemon crop estimate is more than a million boxes larger than last year's crop, and lemons in storage exceed the average quantity of lemons in storage during the past five years by more than 40 per cent. Pledged to aid in the campaign to sell more citrus are the National Association of Food Chains, California Chain Stores association, National Association of Chain Drug Stores, National Association of Retail Grocers, and the Limited Price Variety stores. Companies that are members of these groups will erect store and window displays calling attention to the golden crop, and those having fountains will feature citrus in juice form during the intensive drive.
