CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCH
"Probation after Death" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon on Sunday in all Churches of Christ, Scientist. This verse from the Psalms constitutes the Golden Text: "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
A Scriptural selection in the Lesson-Sermon includes these words of Paul to the Ephesians: "Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; . . . Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." These verses from Colossians are also presented: "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory."
One of the passages from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, states: "Jesus said substantially, 'He that believeth in me shall not see death.' That is, he who perceives the true idea of Life loses his belief in death. He who has the true idea of good loses all sense of evil, and by reason of this is being ushered into the undying realities of Spirit. . . . Jesus gave the true idea of being, which results in infinite blessings to mortals."
