THANKSGIVING DINNER at OYSTER LOAF CAFE! Regular Dinner 55c; Special Club Dinner
Displaying a real offensive punch for the first time this year, Dick Glover's Anaheim union high school footballers closed their 1938 season in a blaze of glory by trouncing Orange high school, 26 to 6, on the Anaheim gridiron Friday afternoon.
The victory over the Panthers gave the Colonists a Sunset league record of two wins, two losses and one tie. They dropped contests to Excelsior and Jordan high schools, beat Huntington Beach in addition to Orange, and drew with Newport Harbor, the club that held both Excelsior and Jordan to deadlocks. The North Long Beach team trimmed Excelsior Friday to win the loop title.
Don Rimpau, speedy halfback, passed his mates to the decisive victory over Orange by scoring three touchdowns. Rimpau had plenty of support from his teammates, the whole team performing in topnotch form.
While Santa Ana and Fullerton jaysees were marking time awaiting their "big game" clash at Fullerton on Thanksgiving day, more than 10,000 fans packed Chaffey's spacious stadium last Friday night to watch San Bernardino eke out a 7 to 6 win over the Panthers and cop the conference gonfalon.
If football must have the extra point after touchdown as an important part of the game then the Indians deserved to win, because in Captain Jim Verdick they have a placekicker of rare ability. His right foot, plus a mechanical kicking toe, provided the extra point that meant victory and defeat for Army air corps engineers commenced work on a radio station on land owned by the Habra Sanitary district. The tion will be one of two located southern California. The government has a lease on the property. Radio sending equipment special type to aid fog-b planes will be installed. Lost may pick up a special beam a distance of six miles from station and thus learn their function, engineers said. Work on station is expected to last about month.
nardino 35. From there Terry his mates pounded deep into Indian territory before Chaffey ceded up the defense with a bea pass to Flannes, left end, caught the ball on the goal and fell into the end zone. Sick kick for the extra point was a Chaffey apparently played out by the start of the final quarter and when Capt. Terry was ed from the game with injury was the signal for San Bernardino to burst into flames. Mixing ning plays with deceptive pace and aiding by a daring foot down toss with 16 yards to that barely made the needed y age, the Indians marched stright to the Chaffey goal, with Fi bucking over from the one-ribbon. Verdick then won the test with a perfect placement.
Terry and Finney are two of finest ball carriers the jaysee conference has ever seen. Terry speed and shiftiness; Finney speed and terrific drive and pass excellently. Terry's use fine kicking was hampered by fast-charging Indian line.
It was a battle between

Placentia Submits Water Plant Offer
The city of Placentia is prepared to purchase from the Southern California Water company the present water system at Placentia for $35,000. The present plant would serve as a nucelus of the proposed municipally owned water plant.
Officials of the water company indicated, however, that the price offered by the city was too low and probably would not be accepted.
If football must have, the extra point after touchdown as an important part of the game then the Indians deserved to win, because in Captain Jim Verdick they have a placekicker of rare ability. His right foot, plus a mechanical kicking toe, provided the extra point that meant victory and defeat for two teams that were so evenly matched that a tie score would have done justice to both.
It was a brilliant contest that featured splendid line play by both teams and thrilling ball packing by Capt. Les Terry of Chaffey and Hal Finney, San Bernardino's ace quarterback. The Indians had a slightly more versatile attack by virtue of a better aerial game and had an edge in kicking, but the superb downfield blocking of the Panthers that enabled Chaffey ball carriers to gain many extra yards balanced the issue.
Neither team was able to score in the first half, although Chaffey worked down to San Bernardino's one-yard line. The Indians had a first down once on Chaffey's 25-yard marker, but four successive passes went astray and the Panthers took over the oval.
In the third canto Chaffey capitalized on an Indian fumble, recovering the ball on the Sen Ber-
