Lambert also experienced a run-away race for auditor. His total was 26,230, with Charles Fallert second with 8106 and Cruzen third with 5559. Lamb Easy Winner Another decisive victory was the one scored by John C. Lamb, incumbent tax collector over O. W. Sisson. Voters gave Lamb 31,841 ballots to 7282 for his opponent. Earl Abbey found little opposition from R. E. Crowley and Dr. J. G. Berneike. The incumbent coroner drew 26,708 votes, far ahead of Crowley's 6444 and Berneike's 4852. One of the closest two-man races was that-for treasurer with Incumbent Stephenson gaining the edge over A. J. Cruickshank by 21,209 to 16,752 votes. Hillyard Victorious Hillyard's total of 21,325 was fairly decisive over that of 15,312 registered by Nat Neff in the contest for surveyor. In the partisan state contests Orange county ran along the same lines as throughout the state. In the republican contest for nomination as governor the incumbent, Frank F. Merriam more than doubled the combined total of his two opponents. Gov. Merriam received 11,250 votes, George J. Hatfield 4342 and Haight 2564. Walter Scott Franklin led James Rolph III, 5934 to 3042, in the contest for lieutenant-governor. Riley Leads Field Harry B. Riley outclassed the field for controller with 13,703. Alexander E. Snider was second with 936. For attorney-general Earl Warren received 12,827 votes to 2313 for Lorrin Andrews. William G. Bonelli, incumbent member of the board of equalization, was nominated over Kee by 13,372 to 2985. The county's republicans were nearly evenly divided in their vote. William R. Cogswell of San Bernadino, new deputy national organizer for the 19th district, will be the principal speaker at next Thursday night's meeting of the Anaheim Townsend club to be held at 224 E. Center street. A short business meeting will be conducted prior to Cogswell's talk. The meeting will start with a pot-luck birthday supper honoring the birthday anniversaries of 15 members of the club. Youth Held on Two Felony Accusations Guadalupe Aparicio of Atwood, charged with negligent homicide and hit-and-run, was held to answer in superior court at the close of a preliminary examination conducted before Judge Halsey Spence of Fullerton late last week. The youth is alleged to have been drinking just prior to an accident which caused the death of Soledad Rodriguez, also of Atwood. He disappeared after the accident and was not apprehended for several days. Accident Victim is Taken to Hospital Miss Ida J. Andrews, 1123½ Lincoln avenue, was taken to the Anaheim sanitarium early Tuesday evening for treatment of injuries received in an automobile accident at Broadway and Philadelphia streets, according to police reports. Miss Andrews' automobile and a truck driven by Dave Crawford, 1029 E. Santa Fe street, collided at the intersection, officers reported. The woman suffered head cuts and bruised arms and legs. Mrs. Rosa V. Kelly Funeral Held Today Funeral services for Rosa V. Kelly, 67, were conducted this afternoon from Hilgenfeld funeral home. Cremation followed. Evans was arrested August and has been at liberty until bail. O'Connor edged out Haight for second, 2436 to 2412. Ellis Patterson led for lieutenant-governor with 2540, with Burnett second with 2290 and Rolph third with 2267. Frank C. Jordan, incumbent secretary of state who was also nominated on the republican ticket, had a 6983 to 5579 margin over John Steven McGroarty. Johnson is Leader Harry B. Kelly Funeral Held Today Funeral services for Rosa V. Kelly, 67, were conducted this afternoon from Hilgenfeld funeral home. Cremation followed. Mrs. Kelly died Sunday after an extended illness. She lived in Placentia for the past year. She leaves a son, Julian F. Kelly of Balboa; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Keefe of Falls Church, Virginia; one sister and one grandchild. Johnson, treasurer, who received 10,106 votes to 2613 for Ward. Carl Kegley led in the race for attorney-general. He polled 7737 votes to 4054 for Earl Warren. William Moseley Jones was third with 3000. Bonelli in Front Bonelli also lead the democrats for nomination to the board of equalization, gathering 8784 votes to 2459 for Howland. The rest were scattered. Sheridan Downey carried the county in much the same manner as he did the state. He received 11,071 votes to 5424 for Senator William Gibbs McAdoo. Burr Brown received the party's nomination as candidate for assemblyman from the 75th district with 4533 votes to Anthony Parra's 2712. In the 74th district Adrian Marks, republican, and Clyde Watson, incumbent democrat, were unopposed. Probable Contestants F. G. WEST K. E. Santa Fe's Income for July Revealed Santa Fe's Income for July Revealed Santa Fe's net operating income for July was $5,232,200, according to a statement released by President S. T. Bledsoe today. This is an increase of $673,259 over July of last year. Gross for the system was $16,-906,929, a decrease under July of 1937, of $1,914,782 or 10.17 per cent. Operating expenses were $10,-144,344, a decrease of $2,283,555 or 19.37 per cent under the same month of 1937. Klein New Director of Cantando Choir Joseph J. Klein of Glendale and Hollywood has been named director of the Santa Ana Cantando club, it was announced late last week. Klein succeeds Benjamin Edwards, former Fullerton junior college musical instructor who has become a member of the faculty at the University of Southern California. Klein directs several outstanding singing organizations in the metropolitan area, including the chorus that sings for the annual Easter sunrise services at Forest Lawn park.
