65th Anniversary Celebration Ends with Parish Party
Celebration of the 65th anniversary of the founding of St. Michael's Episcopal church in Anaheim came to a close Tuesday, evening with a parish party attended by many members and friends. The rector, the Rev. D. Howard Dow, was master of ceremonies.
The Right Rev. Robert B. Gooden, bishop suffragan of the diocese, was the principal speaker of the evening. D. W. Davis also spoke on behalf of the parish.
Mrs. Florence Newkirk offered a piano solo and the Mozart girls double quartet from Anaheim high school sang several numbers. Terry Kilduff did a specialty dance and Lois Smith presented another dance number.
Mrs. Kate Brennerman Wright was presented as one who attended the first service 65 years ago. Others were present who attended services 40 and 50 years ago.
A large birthday cake, covered with candles, was the gift of St. Agnes guild. A committee under the direction of Miss Priscilla Adams served refreshments.
The party brought to a close the anniversary commemoration which was begun last Sunday when a large congregation heard the Very Rev. H. R. O'Malley, dean of St. John's cathedral in Albuquerque.

W. R. C. Celebrates 15th Anniversary of Founding
The fifteenth anniversary of the founding of the A. B. Paul Womans Relief Corps No. 134 in Anaheim was observed Tuesday afternoon at the regular meeting of the organization at the I. O. O. F. hall. A potluck luncheon was served at noon after which the business meeting was held.
Thomas H. Kuchel, Anaheim assemblyman, was the guest speaker of the afternoon, presenting an enlightening and instructive patriotic address.
Three vocal solos were offered during the meeting by Miss Rosemary Ramm, with Leah Pemberton accompanying. Miss Ramm sang "My Love is a Fisherman," "Only a Rose" and "Homing." Mrs. Estelle Gray of Santa Ana, played a group of piano solos to complete the musical entertainment.
To Mrs. Gray, "mother" of the Anaheim corps, fell the honor of cutting the birthday cake which had been baked by Mrs. Nora Dodge, president of the corps.
Numerous guests from Santa Ana, Orange and Fullerton corps were present to participate in the anniversary event.
The Anaheim corps will meet only once a month during June, July and August, it was decided. The meetings will be on the first Tuesday of the month.

After luncheon bridge was played in the library overlooking the ocean. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. E. E. Smith, Mrs. H. B. Pearson, Mrs. L. A. Lewis, Mrs. Ernst Borchert, Mrs. Charlton Tucker, Mrs. Robert Rossberg, Miss Sally Newkirk and Mrs. Arthur Lewis.

Garden Party Given for Bride-Elect
Ruth Eschbach, Elizabeth Earl, Ruth Beardwood and Mrs. Louis Dunn, members of Delta Phi Upsilon, national educational fraternity, of which Miss Evelyn Hilgenfeld is also a member who hostesses in honoring Miss Hilgenfeld Saturday afternoon in the spacious garden of Miss Eschbach in South Pasadena.
Whoopee was played during the afternoon with prizes going to Mrs. Newton Beardwood and Miss Hilgenfeld.
The gifts were presented to Miss Hilgenfeld in a decorated wheelbarrow with Patsy Ann Dunn, 15-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Dunn, in the center as cupid with bow and arrow. The color motif was pink and white.
Refreshments were served at card tables. The tables were centered with bouquets of sweetpeas and rosebuds.
Shoulder bouquets of rosebuds were given to Mrs. Jennie M. Farrar, Mrs. S. F. Hilgenfeld and Miss Hilgenfeld.

Home Department Elects Mrs. Fischer
Mrs. A. Fischer was elected chairman of the Anaheim Home department at its regular May meeting last Thursday at the home of Mrs. E. A. Christensen on North East street. Other officers chosen were Mrs. George Lyons, vice chairman, and Mrs. A. C. Willis, secretary-treasurer. They will be installed at the June meeting.
The subject for discussion Thursday was "Home Grounds Improvement." The speakers were Miss Frances E. Liles and M. J. Wolfe, assistant farm advisor. Members of the group also visited the gardens of Mrs. A. Brierer and Mrs. Lyons.

Honored at Party
Mrs. Harvey Kirk entertained last Friday evening at her home on South Ohio street in honor of Miss Frances Callison who is to be married Saturday to Roy Kirk. Mrs. Glenn Kirk was co-hostess for the miscellaneous shower.
Games of "Michigan" were played during the evening with prizes being awarded Mrs. Bud Wilcox and Mrs. J. Meinecke. At the close of the evening the hostesses, assisted by Mrs. Edward Kirk, served refreshments.

The dining room in the Pacific Coast club at Long Beach was beautiful setting of a bridge luncheon last Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Fred Backs, Miss Winifred Melrose and Miss Florence mighty guests from Anaheim and neighboring cities were the affair.
Tables in the dining room were decorated in various shades with nine large baskets of larkspur, sweet peas, carnations, and pink tapers in crystal candelabras.

Mrs. Thomas Boney Honored at Party
Mrs. Thomas Boney, a bride of recent date, was guest of honor at a post-nuptial party Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Charles Schutz on North Zeyn street. Guests embroidered individual tea towels and played games of "cootie" and "sticks" following a dessert course served at 1:30 o'clock.
Prizes for the games were given to Mrs. D. D. Sharp, Mrs. Emma Dandy, Mrs. Donald Dandy and Miss Margaret Allan. Late in the afternoon the honored guest was presented with numerous gifts.

Spring Luncheon Given at Church
About 150 women members of the Presbyterian church attended the annual spring luncheon in the church this noon. The dining room and small tables were decorated with peach blossoms and tall pink tapers. Mrs.B.F.Morley was chairman of decorations. In the receiving line were Mrs.S.C.Hartranft, Mrs.A.Nagel, Mrs.H.A.Hawley, Mrs.H.G.Authild, Mrs.James Rodden and Mrs.Charles Harbeson.
Mothers Honored at Club Meeting
Mothers of members of the heim Business and Professions Women's clubs were honored the regular meeting of the last Thursday evening at Marigold cafe. The meeting the first of the new club year Mrs.Eva Boyd, new presi presided.
In keeping with the occasion Miss Robbie Anderson gave to the mothers and explained the origin of Mother's Day response was given by Mrs.Alexander who offered an or poem entitled, "Mothers." Alexander was also present with the door prize.
The dinner tables were ordered with large red and white nations.
E.E.Bilgas was guest speaker of the evening. He explained the highway traffic safety which is to appear on the lot in November. The Bus and Professional Women's club scheduled a series of pro- on legislative matters.
Miss Grace Bailey announced that the western regional conference of the organization was held at Grand Canyon June.

Shafer of Anaheim. The service
was read by Rev. R. Kells Swenerton, pastor of the White Temple
Methodist church of Anaheim.
The only attendants were Mrs.
Swenerton and Rev. George A.
Warner, pastor of the Riverside
church.
The new Mrs. Shafer is the organist at the White Temple church. Mr. Shafer is employed at the Anaheim branch of the Bank of America. They plan to make their home in Anaheim.

Mothers Honored Club Meeting
Members of members of the Ana-Business and Professional Women's clubs were honored at a regular meeting of the group Thursday evening at the gold cafe. The meeting was first of the new club year and Eva Boyd, new president, added.
Keeping with the occasion Robbie Anderson gave a talk to the mothers and explained origin of Mother's Day. The sense was given by Mrs. W. E.ander who offered an original entitled, "Mothers." Mrs.ander was also presented the door prize.
The dinner tables were decorated with large red and white carons.
B. Gilgas was guest speaker of the evening. He explained highway traffic safety measures which is to appear on the balcony November. The Business Professional Women's club has ruled a series of programs legislative matters.
