The old silver dollar custom of San Francisco almost got the Anaheim merchant down before some old-timer explained that silver became popular when it was discovered that it could not be lifted from one's pockets without a little jingle which warned the owner that someone was attempting to rifle his pockets. Realizing that there was some merit to the claim Mike came home and is now trying to sell married business men the idea of using silver exclusively. NEW MANAGER FOR GOODRICH STORE W. M. GREEN RIVER ORDINANCE" DETRIMENTAL Passage of an ordinance in Anaheim embracing provisions of the Green River ordinance" could cause a loss to industries of this city by a minimum of $100,000 a year. This loss would be reflected in a reduction of buying power of any families of this city. A chamber of commerce committee is working on the problem house-to-house canvassing and studied the "Green River" law. It is hoped the committee will see that the loss to merchants here such an ordinance would more an offset any gain. The local industry which would hit hardest by such ordinance Mutual Citrus Products corporation. This company has as one of its largest outlets a concern which operates on a house-house basis. It has indicated MCP that their contract would terminated if this city adopts "Green River" ordinance. The effect such action would have on the $15,000 monthly payroll of MCP in Anaheim is obvious. The loss of this account, among others, would mean the loss of employment by local workers and, subsequently, loss of business by local stores andidespeople. Boosters in communities such Anaheim spend much time and money endeavoring to get industries to locate in their cities because they realize that payrolls are important in any community. Why, then, is it good business to even suggest a law or regulation which would handicap our manufacturers such as the MCP, who Odd Fellows Plan Homecoming Night Anaheim Odd Fellows lodge members will hold an open house and homecoming night at the clubrooms, 325 W.
