The railroad camps have been moved from Anaheim to Fullerton, and at the end of the road, beyond the latter place, all is bustle and activity. Grading is comparatively easy in the region to be traversed, the country being almost as level as a floor.
It is expected that track laying will be commenced immediately, so that trains will be running inside of sixty days. The Atchison company has a shipload of steel rails at San Diego and nine more vessels on the way. As soon as these vessels arrive extensive operations will be inaugurated in this vicinity.

Patrol Enforces Bus Passing Law
Zealous of the safety of the children entrusted to her car, a woman school bus driver in the Sacramento area has turned over to the Department of Motor Vehicles a list of 21 license numbers on automobiles which she charges failed to stop while her bus was loading and unloading passengers.
Warnings have been sent to the owners of the reported machines, calling their attention to the bus driver's allegations and citing the fact that it is mandatory on all cars to stop when overtaking a school bus loading or discharging passengers.
Director Ray Ingels of the Department of Motor Vehicles, commending the woman bus driver said:
"Every motorist should appreciate the responsibility of protecting the occupants of the school busses and motorists who ignore their responsibility are subject to arrest by officers of the California highway patrol.
In reporting violators, the school bus drivers are serving as a valuable adjunct to proper law enforcement."

Commission Sets Paying Methods
The California Unemployment Reserves commission today had established definite procedure for payment of unemployment compensation after January 1, 1938. James L. Matthews, chairman, announced.
Estimates reveal the number of weekly checks to be issued will be as high as 50,000 for several months.
Procedure as outlined by the Commission follows:
Immediately following registration of an unemployed worker, at an office of the California State Employment service, he begins his waiting period of four weeks, required under the terms of the Unemployment Reserves act. The fifth week will be the first compensable week. The law requires certification by the unemployed worker to the effect that he has earned no money during the fifth week.
To that end, the commission in complying with the law, will find it necessary to obtain certification.
Aqueduct Tunnel is Advancing Rapidly
Blasting their way through granite at the rate of 24 feet per day, reorganized Metropolitan Water district crews on the San Jacinto tunnel during the last three months have exceeded by four feet per day the progress made up to the time a C.I.O. union strike was called on August 14, according to construction reports released today.
Driving a total of 2,253 feet since August 14, the crews have bettered the average of 21 feet per before the actual check is made out; consequently, a sixth or seventh week to make certification and to allow the orderly functioning of administrative procedure will be required before the worker actually receives his first benefit check through the mail.

Of course—my Electric Range cooks fast!
SWIFT as a speedboat cutting the waves, fast as an airplane streaking across the horizon—that's the speed of cooking on a modern electric range.
Electric heat jumps to the job when you turn the switch. It starts to work fast as an arrow newly flung from the bow. It cooks food quickly, gets it done just when you want it.
The new electric ranges are especially built for fast cooking. Cooking elements have been improved to give maximum speed. As a result, you will find a new electric range one of the fastest ways of cooking you have ever used.
Because of speed and numerous other advantages, electric cookery is gaining rapid favor with California homemakers. It may be interesting to you to learn how easily you can have an electric range for your kitchen. See your electrical dealer.
