The Golden Text is from Chronicles: "Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty." Among the Bible selections in the Lesson-Sermon are these verses from Luke: "And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there was, a woman which had a spit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God." A correlative passage from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy, states: "Christian Science declares that Mind is substance, also that matter neither feels, suffers, nor enjoys. Hold these points strongly in view. Keep in mind the verity of being—that man is the image and likeness of God, in whom all being is painless and permanent."
