Junior Fair Will Top Prior Events Dedicating a splendid new junior exhibition building, the authors participate in this novel edition of the 16th annual Los Angeles county fair in Pomona, Sept. 7 to Oct. 3, have been at work for months arranging a display that will eclipse anything found in the past. With six major divisions and thousands of individual entries ranging from toy gadgets to cattle and ships, a novel division, comprising a complete fair within a fair, will present the endeavors of more than 25,000 boys and girls. Activities of five national groups will be included within the scope of the junior fair this year. They include Future Farmers of America, Four-H clubs, Boy Scouts, amphibians girls and Woodcraftangers. While the young people can and conduct their own fair they have the services of an advisory committee composed of Howard A. Miller of the agricultural department of Los Angeles chamber of commerce; E. W. Everett, state board supervisor of agricultural education and W. R. Ralston and Glenn Waterhouse, University of California agricultural extension service. Ford Dealers will Have Sale of Cars Biggest news in automobile circles this week is the Ford dealers' nationwide used car clearance sale, which is being held during the month of September. Accord- Ford Dealers will Have Sale of Cars Biggest news in automobile circles this week is the Ford dealers' station-wide used car clearance sale, which is being held during the month of September. According to E. R. McCoy, all dealers in the United States are joining in this tremendous money-saving event. "Entire stocks of used cars and trucks on hand, including many R & G cars will be offered in this sale", McCoy said. Stocks are now unusually large, because of the heavy sales of 1937 Ford V-8's, and the September clearance sale includes cars of all classifications and all makes and models. Logically, Pinchot said, the forest service administration belongs in the department of agriculture, because of the close relationship between agriculture and forest conservation. Under the deparment of agriculture it has always been administered with admirable efficiency. On the other hand, in the old days when the service was administered by the department of interior, the forests were grossly mishandled, Pinchot declared. Telephone Company Adopts Lower Rate Adoption of a new hand set rate of 10 cents a month by the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph company was announced this week by N. R. Powley, president. The new rate becomes effective October 1. The new rate replaces the former 15 cent rate, effective since June 1, 1936. It provides also that the additional cost of a hand set telephone will be eliminated after 12 months continuous use.
