Feather River Road Dedication Aug. 14 August vacationers as yet undecided where to go may have the thrill of "rediscovering" California by driving northward into rugged mountain country over the new Feather river route. This scenic highway following the deep gorge of the Feather river is to be added to the state highway system, August 14, when it will be officially dedicated and opened to traffic, according to the touring bureau of the automobile Club of Southern California. INDUSTRIAL BUILDING: Means a building devoted to the storage, repair, manufacture, preparation or treatment of any article, substance or commodity whatsoever which is not allowed to be stored, repaired, manufactured, prepared or treated in Zone C-2 or Zone C-3, and includes buildings used as stables. LOT: Means a plot of land shown on a subdivision tract map recorded with the county recorder of either Los Angeles or Orange County, designated on such map by a separate number or other character which applies only to the parcel so marked; or any area of land under one ownership abutting upon at least one street, alley, or easement. Where no alley exists, the rear of a lot having a frontage on two (2) parallel streets or two (2) streets having approximately the same general direction shall be considered as equi-distant from those streets, except that where the full length or depth of such lot is less than one hundred fifty (150) feet, in which case it shall be deemed one lot and shall be known as a "through lot." CORNER LOT: Means a lot situated at the junction of two (2) or more intersecting streets and bounded on two (2) sides by said streets. The City Council of the City of Anaheim does ordain as follows: SECTION 1 DEFINITIONS For the purpose of this ordinance, all words used in the present tense shall include the future; all words in the plural number shall include the singular number and all words in the singular number shall include the plural number; the word lot includes the words plot and parcel; the word "shall" is mandatory; and certain terms used herein are defined as follows: ACCESSORY: Means a structure, building or portion of either, the use and maintenance of which is subordinate and purely incidental to that of the main building and used only by the occupants thereof. APARTMENT HOUSE: Means any building or portion thereof, more than one story in height, which is designed, built, rented, leased or hired out to be occupied, or which is occupied as the home or residence of three (3) or more families, living independently of each other and doing their own cooking in said building. BOARDING HOUSE: Means the building, other than a hotel, containing not more than five (5) sleeping rooms where lodging with or without meals, for two (2) or more persons, is provided for compensation. BUILDING: Means a structure for the support, housing, shelter and enclosure of any person, animal or chattel; and when any portion thereof is separated from every other portion thereof by a masonry wall, without openings, extending from the ground to the roof at every point, then such portion shall be deemed a separate building. COMMISSION: Means Planning equi-distant from those streets, except that where the full length or depth of such lot is less than one hundred fifty (150) feet, in which case it shall be deemed one lot and shall be known as a "through lot." Either street frontage may be designated as the front of a corner lot. INSIDE LOT: Means any lot which is not a corner lot. LOT LINES: Means the established dividing lines bounding parcels or ownership of property whether shown on a recorded subdivision map or not. The front lot line shall be the lot line which abuts an adjoining street. STRUCTURE: Means anything constructed or erected, the use of which requires more or less permanent location on the ground, or attachment to something having a permanent location on the ground. YARD: Means an open space on a lot on which a building is situated and, except as otherwise provided in this ordinance, unoccupied and unobstructed with buildings or portions thereof from the ground upward except as otherwise provided in this ordinance. The measured distance of a yard may be known as depth. Yards apply only in Zones R-1 and R-3. FRONT YARD: Means a yard extending across the full width of the lot and measured between the front lot line and the nearest front line of the building, structure, or portion thereof. REAR YARD: Means a yard extending across the full width of the lot and measured between the rear lot line and the nearest rear line of the building or any portion thereof. SIDE YARD: Means a yard on each side of the building, extending from the front yard to the rear yard, and measured between the side line of the lot and the nearest line of the building or portion thereof. ZONE OR DISTRICT: Means equi-distant from those streets, except that where the full length or depth of such lot is less than one hundred fifty (150) feet, in which case it shall be deemed one lot and shall be known as a "through lot." FAMILY: Means an individual or a group of two (2) or more persons related by birth or marriage, or any other group of not exceeding five (5) persons, not classified above, whether related or not, living together as a housekeeping unit. In each instance the family may be allowed the usual servants. HOTEL: Means a building or portion thereof containing six (6) or more rooms designed or intended to be let or hired out for use or occupancy, or which are so used or occupied, by six (6) or more persons as their more or less temporary abiding place, where meals may or may not be served, whether compensation for such use or occupancy be paid directly or indirectly in money or otherwise, but shall not include private clubs, fraternity or sorority houses, hospitals, homes fororphans or aged persons, nor buildings where REAR YARD: Means a yard extending across the full width of the lot and measured between the rear lot line and the nearest rear line of the building or any portion thereof. SIDE YARD: Means a yard on each side of the building, extending from the front yard to the rear yard, and measured between the side line of the lot and the nearest line of the building or portion thereof. ZONE OR DISTRICT: Means an entire city block, any portion thereof or two (2) or more contiguous blocks or any area of land. SECTION 2 ESTABLISHMENT OF ZONES In order to designate, regulate, restrict, and segregate the locations of enterprises, industries, businesses, trades, apartments, dwellings, and other specified uses and the buildings designed, occupied, and/or maintained for such uses, and the use of premises, and to regulate the area of yards for the public health, safety, general welfare, and orderly development of the City of Anaheim, said City is hereby divided into six (6) zones to be known as: Zone R-1, Zone R-3, Zone C-2, Zone C-3, Zone M-2, and Zone M-3 which said several zones and the districts of each thereof are hereby established; and the property comprising said districts and each of them is described herein. SECTION 3 NON CONFORMING USES (a) The lawful use of land, for agricultural purposes, existing at the time of the passage of this ordinance, although such use does not conform to the provisions hereof, may be continued, but if such non-conforming use is discontinued on Page 6. ANAHEIM GAZETTE Suspects Theft of Car Anaheim police arrested Hendren, 23, of Los 4:45 o'clock Friday in drunk driving they trio of alleged automobile thieves before a report of the theft had even been made. Observing an automobile being driven erratically, the officers stopped the car to investigate. When none of the three occupants was able to give a satisfactory reason for possessing the car all were taken to the police station. Hendren, the driver, was booked for drunk driving, the others, Dallins J. Bruce, 23, and Edward R. Fogleman, 24, both of 249 S. Flower street, for suspicion of grand theft. Police than called the registered owner of the car, who learned that the car had been stolen. Hendren pleaded guilty to the charge before City Judge Frank Tausch and was sent to jail for 75 days after being unable to a fine of $150. The others turned over to Los Angeles police who also placed a hold on Hendren. Another reason why people aren't interested in what you is because you aren't much interested yourself.
