Newport-Balboa Sponsors Kayak Regatta In June Twelve major events with a number of features including the "Eskimo Roll" are in the Newport Harbor Kayak meet to be staged on June 12 and 13. R. A. Marsden, commodore of the Fulerton Kayak club, W. H. Austin of Santa Barbara, Frank Davenport of Long Beach and Frank Crocker of Newport Beach will have charge of the meet which includes Southern California championship events, from the 400 meter races for boys and the same distance for girls to a special 1000 meter event open to "all ages and weights." Well-known recreation officials of Los Angeles, Orange, and Santa Barbara counties will assist C. P. L. Nicholls of Los Angeles playground department. Frank Davenport in charge of water sports of the Long Beach recreation commission, and W. H. Van Damker, a kayak expert of Fulerton will act as judges; Everis Nelson of Fullerton; Frank Crocker of Newport-Balboa and Coach Ralph Reed of the Newport Harbor union high school will serve as starters. Thomas E. Bouchey, harbor master at Newport Harbor with Don Douglas, starboard builer, will be timekeepers. Entry blanks will be available from any of the officials or by mail direct from the Newport Harbor chamber of commerce which is sponsor for the kayak meet and will provide medals and trophies for the occasion. This affair is only one of many aquatic attractions which will be started... Group Opposing Supreme Court Plan Organizes Organization of Orange county in its fight against the Roosevelt plan to destroy the independence of the United States supreme court is completed, according to announcement today to Benjamin Tarver, chairman of the Orange county committee of the league for supreme court independence. The organization, besides the county committee, consists of city and community committees, chairmen of which are Jules Markel, Santa Ana; Floyd McCracken, Anaheim; Leslie Kimmel, Laguna Beach; Harry Dearing, Orange; Howard Robinson, Brea; William Queale, Fullerton; W. T. Estolt, La Habra; J. P. Greeley, Newport Beach, and Jack Crill, Garden Grove.
