"Country Fair" at Loara School is Big Success "The Country Fair," held last Friday afternoon and evening at the Loara school under the direction of the Parent-Teachers association of that school, was an outstanding success, according to an announcement by Mrs. Robert Power, general chairman of the event. Approximately 400 persons were in attendance during the day, climaxed by a capacity audience in the school auditorium for the program held here in the evening, it was declared. Featuring the evening program were plays presented by the pupils of the fifth, sixth and seventh grades of Loara school and by members of the P.-T. A. The youngsters offered "Molly Be Jolly" and the P.-T. A. presented "Snap Judgment." Miss Fern Hein directed the student production while Mrs. Helen G. Nelson was director for "Snap Judgment." Music between acts of the two plays was offered by the Ray Long orchestra and tap dances were presented by Patty Power, Jean Nairon and Joan Power. In charge of the various booths were Mrs. L. D., Witherill, fortune telling; Mrs. C. E. Harbison, fish pond; Mrs. Howard Pannier, jams and jellies; Mrs. J. C. Stankey, cut flowers and potted plants; Miss Mildred Stewart, candies and cookies; Mrs. J. W. Fogg, aprons and pot-holders; Mrs. Al Pape, pies, cakes, ice cream and hamburgers; Mrs. Ray Long and Two are Honored at Layette Shower Monday Evening Honoring Mrs. Reid Williams, Anaheim, and Mrs. Floyd Vaughan, Fullerton, a joint layette shower was given Monday evening in Fullerton at the home of Mrs. Ralph Ferguson, 341 N. Woods, Fullerton, by Mrs. Ferguson and Mrs. Howard Maxwell, Fullerton; Miss Charlotte Price, Anaheim; and Miss Alvena Miller, Whittier. The Ferguson home was decorated with miniature bassinets filled with Cecile Brunner roses and forget-me-nots. At places for the refreshment hour were small pink and blue baby buggies for favors. The dessert course served at the close of the evening, featured ice cream molded into stork shapes and pink cakes. Bridge occupied the evening with prizes going to Mrs. Eunice Sipple, first, and Mrs. Irene Lund, second, Anaheim; Mrs. Hy Raggio of Whittier, third, and Mrs. Lilah Hadlock of Fullerton, consolation. The layettes were presented the honorees after the game. Other guests were Mrs. Lorene Berry, Lynwood; Mrs. Marcella Pack, Montebello; Mrs. Edith Christensen, Santa Monica; Miss Virginia Anderson, Placentia; Mrs. Billie Rowland, Miss Margery Patrick, Miss Nina Bush, Mrs. Betty Wagner, Miss Vivian Goff, Miss Claire Fisher and Miss Eleanor Marsh, Anaheim; and Miss Louise Johnson, Miss Katherine Primrose, Mrs. Doris Hemmer, Mrs. Dorothy Nunlist, Mrs. Velma Brandt and Miss Ellen Hadlock Recitals Given by Pupils of Mrs. McCullah A series of four recitals is being held during the week by the Orange County School of Fine Arts under the direction of Mrs. Kate E. McCullah as the school's contribution to Music Week. Observance of Mothers Day was combined with the recitals with mothers and grandmothers as special guests. The first of the series was held last Saturday when the intermediate girls held a musical tea Tuesday afternoon the senior department presented its recital. This afternoon the junior girls will entertain and present the program and the last of the series will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock when the boys will offer their Mother's Day Recital. Mrs. Brown is Chosen President of Ebell Club Mrs. A. P. M. Brown, Mrs. H. Brown as president for the coming year and voting to start immediate construction of a new clubhouse featured the meeting Monday of the Anaheim Ebell club. Mrs. Brown has served as auditor and second vice president and program chairman in the past two years. The new clubhouse, costing $11,300, will be built at the corner of Helena and Cypress streets. In charge of the various booths were Mrs. L. D., Witherill, fortune telling; Mrs. C. E. Harbeson, fish pond; Mrs. Howard Pannier, jams and jellies; Mrs. J. C. Stankey, cut flowers and potted plants; Miss Mildred Stewart, candies and cookies; Mrs. J. W. Fogg, aprons and pot-holders; Mrs. Al Pape, pies, cakes, ice cream and hamburgers; Mrs. Ray Long and Mrs. R. R. Schwartzbach, exhibit of antiques, home made quilts and unusual dolls. Articles sold at the various booths were donated by members of the P.-T. A. Ninety Attend Mothers and Daughters Banquet Ninety women and girls attended the annual Mothers and Daughters banquet of the Evangelical Ladies' Aid of the Presbyterian church held at the church last Monday evening. Members of the church choir served the dinner. Mrs. R. C. Hein was mistress of ceremonies and presented a program which included a vocal trio by the Misses Rosemary Ramm, Margaret Palm and Margaret Hein, with Miss Ferne Hein at the piano, a violin duet by Miss Bessie Marie Edwards and Miss Margaret Hein, two solos by Beverly Jean Harris, 4-year-old youngster, accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Marie Harris and an address by Mrs. C. Akers of Santa Ana. A toast to the daughters was given by Mrs. A. A. Ehlers with the response by Mrs. Vera Korn. The invocation was asked by Mrs. Irene Weaver and Mrs. E. H. Elser gave the message of greeting. The group closed the meeting by singing "Mother Machee," with Miss Ferne Hein at the piano and Mrs. Elsner directing. Convention Reports Given to W.R.C. La Mosk Chorus Plans Two Public Appearances The La Mosk chorus of Anaheim will have two public appearances this month and will participate in a rehearsal of three Parent-Teachers association chorus, it was announced yesterday by Mrs. Ben Ter Best, chairman of the group. The public appearances will be at a pageant to be given at Loara school on the evening of May 20 and at the meeting of the George Washington school P.-T. A., the date for which has not yet been set. Also on May 20 the La Mosk chorus will join with choruses from Fullerton and Orange for rehearsal under the direction of Mrs. Anne Sheppard of Los Angeles, state P.-T. A.; music director. The rehearsal will be held at the Salem Evangelical church here. Regular practice of the chorus will be held tomorrow morning at Loara school. Card Party and Picnic Planned by Katella P.-T. A. Plans for three coming events were discussed yesterday at the meeting of the executive board of the Katella Parent-Teachers association held at the school. A card party will be held on the afternoon of May 18 at the home of Mrs. L. F. Douglass of Collins avenue, it was decided. Irvine park will be the scene of the annual school picnic on May 21. About 300 persons are expected to attend the event. No definite plans were made Convention Reports Given to W.R.C. Reports by Mrs. Mary Mitchell, president, and Mrs. Elizabeth Rapp on the Woman's Relief Corps convention held last week at Stockton featured the meeting Tuesday in the I.O.O.F. hall of the A.B.Paul Woman's Relief Corps No.134. An additional report on the convention was given by Mrs. Estelle Gray of Santa Ana, who was a visitor at the meeting Tuesday. Two special events to be held within the next month were planned by the corps. A public card party will be held in the I.O.O.F. hall on May 13 at 2 o'clock, following the regular meeting of the corps. The corps' birthday anniversary dinner will be held June 1, it was decided. A potluck dinner will be served at noon and will be followed by a business meeting. Mrs. Elizabeth Burkhead of Santa Ana also visited the meeting.
