Forum Speaker Talks to Club Dr. John Brown Mason, member of the federal forums, was the speaker at the meeting of the Anaheim Kiwanis club Tuesday, being introduced by J. A. Clayes, chairman of the day. Dr. Brown used as his subject, "Can We Understand Europe Today?" He offered several examples of misunderstandings between peoples of different nations and gave the historical backgrounds for the conditions as they exist today. France and England, he said, have opposed each other in major wars more than any other countries. Inability to understand the other nation's language is a principal factor in the continued misunderstanding between nations, Dr. Brown believes. He added that Germany now compels high school students to study English. He is scheduled to conduct the meeting Tuesday night with a talk on "Education Under the Nazis." Dr. Mason, it will be recalled, received his early education in German schools and is highly qualified to speak on the changes that have taken place under the Hitler regime as a contrast with that of the old system.
