A Christmas recital was given last Friday evening in the Grace Lutheran church by piano pupils of Miss Elizabeth Hunziker with presentation of Christmas gifts to the students following the program. Those who participated were Marylin Doss, Eric Baxter, Verlma Olson, Rosella Olson, Norman Wileox, Gania Demaree, Doris Wichman, Ted Sheridan, Margaret Schweiss, Audrey Baxter and Kathleen Demaree. Joan Spencer, five year old youngster, sang "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," accompanied by Audrey Baxter, following which the entire group sang Christmas carols. Special numbers were given by Miss Hunziker, who played Rochmaninoff's "Polichinelle," and W. A. Schweiss, who offered two whistling solos. "What the people don't know," says a politician, "doesn't hurt them." You mean it doesn't hurt you. Students Present Program to Katella P.-T. A. Students of the school provided the program for the Katella Parent-Teachers association's December meeting, held last Friday evening at Katella school with nearly 300 persons in attendance. The feature of the program was a one-act musical play, "At the Court of Santa Claus," given under the direction of Miss Edith Holsinger. Many of the pupils participated in the performance. The school orchestra, directed by Miss Holsinger, played "At Christmas Tide" and Mildred Milbrat played as a piano solo "Trinity and Chimes" to complete the program. The P.-T. A. furnished a Christmas tree and candies and nuts for the children. Mrs. R. Wollenman, president of the organizations, opened the program with a few announcements and extended holiday greetings to the gathering. The January meeting of the Katella P.-T. A. will be held Wednesday, January 13, at the school, it was announced. Buttree presented a piano recital at Mrs. Buttree's home, 521 N. Lemon street Friday evening. Soloists were Mary Joan Alden, Helen Holzgrafe, Marilyn Greenwald, Katheryn Gauer, Joe Phillips, Mary Harpster, Sally Watson, Mary Adams, Gloria Scott, Barbara Pratt, Doris Ann Bray, Donald Mills, Marian Hill, Marjorie Nordhein, Joanna Overman, Lorraine Teasdale, and Marian Pickel. Two readings were given by Mary Joan Alden. Miss Louise Tate played "Etude in D Flat" in answer to special requests. Miss Dorothy Pratt and Miss Helen Pifer played a two-piano arrangement of Kreisler's "Caprice Viennois" to close the program. Following the recital, refreshments were served. Assisting Mrs. Buttress were Mrs. E. E. Long, Miss Pifer, Miss Tstate and Miss Pratt. St. Michael's Plans Yuletide Programs The high light of the Christmas season at St. Michael's Episcopal church will be the midnight choral Eucharist beginning at 11:30 o'clock on Christmas Eve.
