Rex Huddleston Given Football Insignia by Oxy
Rex Huddleston, former Brea Olinda high athlete, was one of 23 lettermen to receive awards for playing with Occidental College varsity football squad.
Huddleston worked himself into the first string fullback position after a poor start in the first part of the season. Considered as the most improved player on the squad, Huddleston's performance gained with every game.
Huddleston is one of the thirteen sophomores to receive awards, and with two more years of competition, Huddleston should prove to be invaluable to the Tiger grid machine.
Cash Incomes for Farmers Increase
Farmers' cash income from the sale of their products amounted to $886,000,000 in October compared with $752,000,000 in September and with $802,000,000 in October of last year, the bureau of agricultural economics reported recently.
The gain in October this year over last was due chiefly to larger sales of cotton and hogs and to the higher prices of cotton, potatoes, and dairy products. The peak in farm marketings and in income from crops occurs in October. Due to smaller production of several important crops this year such as corn, apples and potatoes, income from crops increased less than usual from September to October.

Marketing Groups Value Appreciated
The central produce markets of the country are becoming more appreciative of the contributions made to the nation's food supplies through agricultural marketing cooperatives, President E. A. Stokdyk of the Berkeley, California, Bank for Cooperatives told his colleagues at a conference recently of the presidents and secretaries of the thirteen banks for cooperatives under the farm credit administration.
Stokdyk said that recently the Berkeley bank for cooperatives had made a million dollar loan to a turkey growers' cooperative with headquarters in Salt Lake City to assist that organization in marketing its holiday supplies. The Berkeley bank for cooperatives leads all the other district banks of like character under the farm credit administration with a volume of loans outstanding amounting to $9,600,000.
Cars Recovered at High Rate by State
Nearly every 30 minutes, a stolen automobile is recovered in California, though thieves take them at a slightly faster rate.
In his report of activities for October, Director Ray Ingels of the motor vehicle department, advised Governor Merriam that 1,365 motor vehicles had been stolen, while 1,209 were recovered.
Since the establishment of the auto theft bureau of the California highway patrol, the lot of automobile thieves is becoming more difficult, Ingels said, accurate records are kept by the department and with increased facilities, police throughout the state are able to secure prompt information.
CHURCHES OF CHRIST,
SCIENTIST
The words of the Psalmist, "Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust," constitute the Golden Text in the Lesson-Sermon on "God the Preserver of Man" on Sunday in all Christian Science Churches, branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.
The Lesson-Sermon includes these Bible verses from I John: "And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love."
Among the passages from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy, is the statement: "The understanding, even in a degree, of the divine All-power destroys fear, and plants the feet in the true path—the path which leads to the house built without hands 'eternal' in the heavens.' Human hate has no legitimate mandate and no kingdom. Love is enthroned."
