Tedrick Candidate For Appraiser Job Paul Tedrick, Anaheim man, is one of the several persons in the race for the appointment as state inheritance tax appraiser for Orange county to succeed the late John N. Anderson of Santa Ana. Other northern Orange county men mentioned include Albert Launer, Howard Irwin and Elmer Guy, all of Fullerton. Elks Lodge Meets Thursday Evening Anaheim Lodge No. 1245, B. P. O. E., will hold its regular meeting next Thursday evening instead of Wednesday, it was announced today by John Morgan, secretary. The change was made after receiving a special disposition from grand lodge officials. Charter night will be observed and all charter members of the Anaheim lodge have been invited to attend. A program will be presented following the lodge meeting, Morgan said. Five Petty Thefts Reported to Police A series of petty thefts were reported to Anaheim police Friday and Saturday. America Bldg., Ana YEARBOOK WINS NATIONAL HONOR Anaheim Union High School "Colonist" Again Given All-American Rating All-American honors for the fifth consecutive year have been awarded the Colonist, Anaheim high school yearbook, according to word received recently from the National Scholastic Press association at the University of Minnesota. Attesting to its superiority the Colonist was the only yearbook in Southern California representing high schools up to 1600 enrollment to be given this distinction. Fifteen yearbooks in the United States were given similar honors; two in northern California. This critical service conducted for high schools, colleges, and universities, including judging in the general plan of book, sections of the book, editing and make-up, mechanical considerations, and the financial status. Judges, in sending their report stated that this year's All-Americans must have had mechanical excellence in typography, press work, book binding, paper quality, and general craftsmanship in the literary content. All-Americans were distinguished by fulfilling all these qualities and presenting personality, character and individuality. Margaret Smith was the book's editor-in-chief. Other high schools in California to receive All-American recognition in other classes are Woodrow Wilson and Polytechnic high schools of Long Beach, and Madison high school of San Francisco. In a letter received from Fred Kildow, head of the journalism department at the University of Minnesota, the 1936 edition of the Colonist will be used for the university's annual loan service in aiding other schools in yearbook construction and management.
