Lodi To Stage Wine Festival Sept. 18 to 20 Focusing attention upon the rapid return to world prominence of California's grape and wine industry, the third annual Northern San Joaquin County Grape and Wine festival will be staged in Lodi, September 18, 19 and 20. Co-operating with Lodi in making the forthcoming celebration the "biggest and best" in the community's history are the towns of Acampo, Woodbridge, Victor, Lockeford, Clements, Youngstown and other grape and wine producing districts of the county, according to the festival committee. Special features of the celebration will include practical demonstrations of wine making, exhibits of choice grapes, spectacular street parades, an electrical water pageant, air circus, athletic events and carnival attractions. Lodi, famed as the home of the flame tokay grape, is also known as one of the largest wine producing sections of the world. Practically the entire output of tokay grapes in this country comes from vineyards within 30 miles of Lodi, the records show. The Lodi district boasts more than 40 wineries, with a total annual production exceeding 20,-000,000 gallons.
