CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCH The Psalmist's words, "Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite," constitute the Golden Text in the Lesbian Gay History Book. GOT AWAY TO A FLYING START All the sideshows had their fling at the last big convention, and had the elephant and donkey in the rumble seat. But as the race continues there will be so much hot air that they will blow a couple of tires before the thing is over, with the third party nominee thumbing his way up the road. PULLING IN THE ROAD A piece in the paper day quoted the G. O. P., as saying the good look man of the national was talking too much to the boys who took a vow the Bourbon convention gested that he attend his routine knitting and it a day. Whoops! Misses Jane and Lucile Smith of Portland, Ore., are visiting their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Lipe, Sr., of West Lincoln avenue. CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCH The Psalmist's words, "Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite," constitute the Golden Text in the Lesson-Sermon on "Mind" on Sunday in all Christian Science Churches, branches of The Mother Church, The First Churce of Crist, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. The Lesson-Sermon includes this Bible verse from Job: "Behold, God is mighty, and desiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom." These verses from the Psalms are also cited: "Sing unto the Lord, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day . . . Honour and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. Give unto the Lord, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts." One of the correlative passages from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy, states: "The exterminator of error is the great truth that God, good, is the only Mind, and the supposititious opposite of infinite Mind—called devil or evil—is not Mind, is not Truth, but error, without intelligence or reality." UNEASY LIES THE HEAD WHO WEARS A CROWN When a perplexed member of the League of Nations asked for a loan to start a war, the very thing that august body is opposed to, it has all the earmarks of our own boondoggling — giving a man much money not to produce. It would be just as sensible to give the king the money not to produce a war. And then some other fellow might start one. Whoops! LITTLE BOY BLUE COME BLOW YOUR HORN From what you can see in the papers the voters who turned a cold shoulder to the republican ticket at the last election, are waking up and sending out smoke signals from the mountain tops to get back into line and put the country on its feet again, and junk the fantastic dreams that have proven to be a lot of hot air and red ink. NOW WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT? A man ups and says if 10 million people got $200 every month to spend, robberies and hold-ups would increase a 1000 per cent.
