Crippled Child Relief Meets
The Board of Directors of the Crippled Children's Relief Association of Orange County, Incorporated, held its monthly meeting at Doris-Kathryn Tea Shoppe in Santa Ana Friday, with further reports given of the splendid work that is being carried on by this organization. Miss E. Kate Rea, president, presided at the meeting.
The report of the treasurer shows donations in the amount of $100.97; a bill of $5.50 ordered paid; balance on hand as of June 12, 1936, $734.08.
Reports of the investigating committee show there is one little boy in the county hospital for special treatment; one boy to become a possible ward of the state through certification; two six-year-old boys, suffering from effects of infantile paralysis, to be further investigated and report made at the next meeting; one young woman so far progressed as to be working at her profession; another, using new braces supplied by the association, now able to secure work; three young girls showing progress under supervision of the association; a new case where a boy of thirteen requires services of a skilled orthodontist, and an effort will be made to aid him in securing this service. One of the first patients, a boy, is graduating from the Anaheim high school this year; while another, a girl, is so improved that she takes a prominent part in high school activities, holding an office in one organization.
The secretary was instructed to begin the work of compiling mailing lists for the fall letter of solicitation for funds, to enable the association to carry on this most excellent beneficial work.
to be given at the Valencia ballroom on the 101 highway, June 25th, while public subscriptions are being asked of individual firms in Northern Orange county.
According to Bill Gilmore and Al Roth, members of the committee responsible for the publicity tie-up with Dick Powell, dance ticket sales are mounting toward their goal of $500. Approximately $1,000 will have to be raised to send the team East, it is said.
