Joe Elliott Named New Pilot of Valencias, Joe C. Elliott, for many years a member of the Anaheim nightball commission, was appointed Monday to succeed Elwayne "Eenie" Wilcox as field manager of the Anaheim Valencias. Wilcox resigned, it was said, because of the press of outside business. The new pilot will assume command of the club at Orange tomorrow night. Elliott has long been actively identified with Anaheim's National nightball league team and his appointment is expected to meet with the approval of the fans. Elliott is faced with the task of snapping the Valencias out of a losing streak that dropped them from a contending position to a tie for third place, several games behind the leading Huntington Beach outfit. In addition, he must rebuild to a certain extent to offset the loss of Jean Arroues and Leavitt Daley, outfielders. Arroues was put on the voluntarily retired list for the remainder of the first half, but it is problematic if he will be able to return to the club this year. Daley quit the team to play in the San Joaquin valley. Ted Neja, batting star of Pete Lehr's Orange county league club, has been drafted for one outfield berth. The new manager is searching for additional assistance in the gardens and is also on the prowl for another top-notch gunner. Anaheim Man Will Seek Nomination as State Assemblyman James H. PENNEY COMPANY, Incorporated 124 WEST CENTER—ANAHEIM ANAHEIM GAZETTE H. HEFFRON An unusual feature of the services was that Miss Goble was accompanied to the wedding bower by her father to the strains of her own piano accompaniment. A victrola recording of Mendelsohn's and Lohengren's wedding marches was played for the processional. Miss Goble had also recorded the music of "Because" and "I Love You Truly" to the accompaniment of which Miss Sallie Lee Skale of Santa Ana sang the beautiful vocal arrangement of these two widely loved songs. The ritualistic services were read by Reverend Porter in the presence of about a hundred guests. Truly beautiful in a white afternoon dress designed with full puff sleeves, the bride was accompanied by her sister, Miss Louise Goble, as bridesmaid. Both wore small white hats and corsage bouquets of gardenias. Little Miss Betty Blossom Goble was a charming little flower girl, as she strew the rose petals in the path of the bridal party. Stanley Allen, an intimate friend of Mr. Vinson, attended him as best man. Among the guests present were many relatives from Pasadena and San Bernardino as well as Mrs. Goble from Anaheim who was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. A. E. Clark and family of Fullerton. The happy young couple received ever so many lovely gifts which were admired during the serving of refreshments as the bride cut her beautiful wedding cake. The bride's mother was a gracious hostess, as she and Mrs. Vinson assisted the bride in serving the guests. Mrs. Goble wore a dress of figured silk crepe in a soft orchid shade and Mrs. Vinson had Appointive officers named by Mrs. Carleton included Mrs. Fannie Pritchett, education; Mrs. Gladys Roehm and Mrs. Eleanor Barthemes, international relations; Mrs. Blanche Daniels and Mrs. Inez Clark, legislation; Mrs. Callie Lamb, publicity; Mrs. Addie Kellenberger and Miss Erma Waidler, public relations; Mrs. Betty Davenport and Mrs. Myrtle Canby, health; Mrs. Ann Girton and Mrs. Ada Coleman, membership; Mrs. Ada Gandy, research; Mrs. Ann Krogan and Miss Helen Diller, transportation; Mrs. Susan Brown and Mrs. Myrl Marsh, hospitality. The past president's pin was presented to Mrs. Brown, with Mrs. Rochm representing the club members. Persiding at the regular meeting, as well as the installation services, Mrs. Brown was charming, wearing a full length gown of flowered silk crepe. Mrs. Boyd wore a hostess gown of flowered chiffon as she greeted her guests. The other officers as well as members and guests present were likewise dressed in pretty summer frocks. The installation services followed a brief business session, during which plans were formulated for a picnic at the Anaheim city park for July 8. After a few hands of bridge the hostess served delicious individual home-made lemon pies and coffee, thus bringing to a close a most pleasant evening. protecting branches of a shade tree formed the day for the porch setting of the ceremony which united Gelene Goble of Tujunga and Vinson of Costa Mesa at home of the bride's parents, and Mrs. Wayne Goble, Sunternoon. Round Table Club Officers Installed In Pretty Ceremony Once again through the friendly spirit of hospitality Mrs. Eva Boyd opened her lovely home on South Olive street to the ladies of Anaheim, when the newly elected officers of Anaheim Round Table club took the oath of office last evening. Mrs. Susan Brown, retiring president, acted as installing officer, choosing the beautiful flower ceremony. A basket of rosebuds had been selected as the symbol for the office of president as Mrs. Vincenta Carleton accepted the charge. As Mrs. Boyd was named vice president she was presented with a basket of pansies. A basket of pink snapdragons represented the office of treasurer, taken by Mrs. Vera Newton; smilax, combined with blue delphinium, was the symbol for the office of recording secretary, taken by Miss Mabel Junker; ivy, with white daisies were given to Mrs. Mary Foreman as corresponding secretary and purple larkspur represented the office of parliamentarian to which Mrs. Mabel Hathoway had been elected.
