Flower Mission Closes Year With Country Outing
Another organization closed the activities for the summer months, ending as well the fiscal year of the association when Mrs. William P. Webb, Jr., was hostess to members of the Flower Mission of the Presbyterian church and their guests Thursday. Leaving the church at 10:30 the guests arrived at the picturesque ranch home in Sanitago Canyon about noon, with the first order of business for the day being the serving of the pot-luck luncheon. The large living room and cheery fire place added greatly to the enjoyment of the many delicious foods.
Special guests for the day were Mrs. Lillian Fuller, Mrs. Webb's sister, Mrs. H. D. Newkirk, Mrs. E. E. Smith and Mrs. Pauline Guthrie. Mrs. Fuller assisted her sister with the hostess duties, as also did Mrs. Burt Morley, Mrs. Floyd McCracken, Mrs. Paige Vincent, and Mrs. Robert Gregg.
The business meeting, presided over by Mrs. C. E. Harbeson and the devotional services which were conducted by Mrs. L. E. Middleton were held under one of the large spreading oaks. Aside from the regular reports, plans were made for nect fall's activities. It was decided to have a penny-march at each meeting, and Mrs. Vincent to be custodian of the pennies. Mrs. Arthur Porter was chosen to take charge of the birthday bank which will be another new feature. Mrs. Harbeson also asked the members to
Philathea Class Plans Beach Party
A penny auction of cooked food and pastries made by the members added to the funds of the Philathea class of the Presbyterian church when the young people gathered at the home of the Misses Emma and Cornelia Scheler on South Palm Thursday evening. Miss Georgia Altnow was in charge of the sale.
