Local Happenings N.D.G.W. Sponsor Pioneer Day Saturday Grace parlor No. 242, Native Daughters of the Golden West, has issued invitations to about 50 pioneer residents of Anaheim to attend the Annual Pioneer Day, next Saturday, May 23rd, at the Placentia Round Table club. All early settlers of Northern Orange County are invited and the day promises to be one of great enjoyment. Luncheon will be served at 2:30 at the clubhouse, with Past Presidents of Grace Parlor acting as hostesses. Thomas L. McFadden, will be master of ceremonies during the afternoon. Mrs. Terry Stephenson of Santa Ana will tell of the early history of northern Orange county and a program of musical numbers will follow. The balance of the afternonoon will be spent in happy reminiscence. Mrs. Lawrence Lemke is general chairman with Mrs. John Wager and Mrs. J. L. Enfield assisting. Mrs. George Jackson, daughher of Marcus Andrade, captain of Anaheim police, and Mrs. Jesse Mrs. Eva Boyd Hostess to Breakfast Section The lovely arbor garden of Mrs. Eva Boyd on South Olive street, was the scene of a most delightful gathering of members of the Breakfast Section of the Anaheim Ebell club Wednesday morning. The palm covered arbor made a perfect canopy for the tables, and rose bouquets graced each table. Watts are on the luncheon committee; Mrs. W. C. McFarland, Mrs. Frank Hill and Mrs. Marshall Steen, table and hall decorations; Mrs. Ralph Davin and Mrs. Enfield, program; Mrs. Oscar Renner of Anaheim, roster; Mrs. Dean Hasson, presiden of Grace Parlor, and Past Presidents, Mrs. A. H. Rothaermel, Mrs. Fred Cline, Mrs. Arthur L. Anderson, Mrs. Thomas L. McFadden, Mrs. Frank Lawson, Mrs. Jesse Watts, and Mrs. J. L. Enfield, on the hostess committee. Reservations may be made with Mrs. Enfield, telephone Placentia 6896, and a cordial invitation is extended to all Pioneer settlers of northern Orange county. The piping hot home-made mufffins and delicious marmalade and jelly were too irresistible. As this was the last meeting o­n the year, the members, through Mrs. Alice Berthaum as spokeswoman, expressed their appreciation of the wonderful leadership and services of Mrs. Boyd with the presentation of lovely gifts Mrs. Leo J. Friis, president of the Ebell club, expressed her appreciation to Mrs. Boyd and to thе club members for their splendid co-operation for the past year and Mrs. Ralph M. Waltz, clucurator extended her sincere thanks to Mrs. Boyd, and leader of the different sections. Mrs. RaVan Wagoner gave her personal thanks to Mrs. Boyd for carryin­ on when she was obliged to turn the leadership over to her. Mrs. B. J. Luther, newly elected leader of the section, and Mrs. J. B. Hasty, each expressed their appreciation of the confidence th­e members hold for them in choos­ing them as leaders for the next year. Announcement was made of the Play-day to be held at the Balboa home of Mrs. C. A. Neighbor next Monday. This is to take place of the regular meeting of thе drama and book section of thе club. Reservations can be made with Mrs. Frank Tausch. A humorous playlet portrayi­ng the members of the "Maiden Ladies Utopia of Single Blessednes­ Club" at national convention held at the beautiful California home of Miss Polly Wogge (Mrs. Eva Boyd who was hostes­ to the visiting delegates from various states). Miss Minnie Mumm (Mrs. R. L. Royalty) was presiding president of the organization calling upon the delegates present for their annual reports and opinion regarding the blissful state o­single-blessedness versus marriage. Carroll Entertains Euchre Club Mrs. Joseph Carroll entertained the ladies Euchre club on Thursday afternoon. Luncheon was served at a local cafe at 1 o'clock after which the ladies were taken to the Carroll home on Lincoln avenue when the afternoon was very pleasantly spent at progressive euchre. Prizes were won by Mrs. Henry Kuchel and Mrs. Gerald Sandilands. This is the oldest club in Anaheim having been organized in 1895 by a group of socially prominent ladies of this city. Mrs. Gooden had chosen a most attractive and artistic combination for the table appointments. Martha Washington and pink geraniums were combined with blue larkspur for the center bouquet, and tall pink candles lighted the table. At each place was a very pretty individual favor.
