SOCIETY CLUBS
Convention Plans Announced For Club Women
Orange county club women are planning to attend the annual convention April 29 at the Orange Christian church.
A panel discussion by district and state officers on "Past and Present Problems for Federation Solving" will feature the morning session scheduled to open at 10 o'clock. Reports of the club presidents and county officers will be heard.
Orange Womens club members will present a play during the luncheon hour, preceding a half hour musical program. "The Economic Outlook and the Way On For America," an address by Dr. Arthur G. Coons, dean of men and professor of social science at Occidental college has been scheduled for the afternoon meeting.
Reservations may be made with Mrs. E. H. Smith, 258 North Center street, Orange; or by telephone, Orange 23-W.
"Building for the Citizen of Tomorrow by Becoming More Intelligent Today" is the theme for the state convention scheduled for May 13 to 16 at Sacramento. The annual council meeting of the Federation of Women's Clubs will be held April 27 to May 1 at Miami, Florida. The Western Federation of Women's clubs convention has been scheduled for May 19 to 21 at the Biltmore hotel in Los Angeles.
B. P. W. Members Attend District
Drama Program Given For St. Boniface P. T. A.
A dramatics program featuring the play, "Alice Blue Gown" by Anaheim high school students of Mrs. Faye Kern Schulz featured the program meeting of St. Boniface P. T. A. Friday afternoon at the school.
Cast in the production are Marlys Johnson, Dorothy Black, Rosemary Ramm, Lois Meiler, Carolyn Mayes, Lois Boege, Eunice Winger, and Margaret Gauer.
Mrs. William Le Vecke, program chairman; introduced the group.
Highlights of the business meeting included the appointment of the nominating committee, Mrs. W. J. M. Heinz, chairman; Mrs. Glenn Stillwell, Mrs. R. E. Heeter; Mrs. J. E. Schumacher, and Mrs. Elmer Bruce.
Mrs. Le Vecke, who is also health chairman, stated that examinations of children of preschool age are now in progress.
Future Activities Planned by W. R. C. Group
Future activities including plans to attend Memorial Day services at the White Temple Methodist church May 24 on invitation of the church pastor, Rev. Ray C. Harker were planned at the meeting of the Women's Relief Corps, A. B. Paul when the group met Tuesday afternoon at the I. O. C. Hall.
V. F. W. Auxiliary Visits Hospital At Sawtelle
Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary visited the veterans hospital at Sawtelle last week taking with them a number of convalescent jackets and magazines.
With the exception of two, the visitors found all new patients in the ward sponsored by the local organization, the latter group either convalescent or transferred from the ward.
Making the trip were Mrs. L. N. Wisser, hospital chairman; Mrs. Ella R. Wheeler, Mrs. Roy Tyreman, Mrs. John Martens, auxiliary president; and Mrs. Florence E. Davis.
Miss Olive Poirier David Crist Wed at Riverside
Wearing a gray crepe tailored type costume with accompanying cape and accessories in tan, Miss Olive Poirier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Poirier of Anaheim and David Crist, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Crist of Yorba Linda exchanged marriage vows Saturday morning at Riverside.
Miss Jean Barry and Mr. William Groat, both of Anaheim, attended the couple.
Following a week's honeymoon, the destination of which was not announced, Mr. and Mrs. Crist will be at home to their friends at their new home at the Orange ranch of the bridegroom on Casa
B. P. W. Members Attend District Convention Meet
A number of the members of the Anaheim Business and Professional Women's club attended the thirteenth annual Southern District federation convention Saturday and Sunday at the Riverside Mission Inn. "Charting Our Course Through Service and Understanding" was given as the convention theme.
Speeches included an address by Virginia Judy Esterly, assistant to the president and counselor on human relations at Scripps college, panel discussion led by Howardine Hoffman, Chino B. and P. W. president, and supervising principal of the elementary school luncheon address by William O. Harris of Los Angeles, member of the federal housing administration.
Climaxing the two day session, installation ceremonies were conducted for new officers including Miss Dana R. Williams of Ontario who was re-elected president, Florence M. Fitzgerald of San Diego; vice-president; Dorothy Decker of Santa Ana, recording secretary; Nell Piester of Orange, treasurer; and Rhoda Garrigues of La Jolla, auditor.
Attending from Anaheim were Mrs. E. Mabel Dixson, Mrs. Vincenta Carleton, Mrs. Eva Boyd, Miss Grace Black, Miss Ruth Williams, Miss Robbie Anderson, and Miss Madge Sproull.
Two hundred district chairmen, delegates, and alternates attended the convention sessions.
Girls Reserve Join In Camp Fire Meet

Report of committee chairmen showed $5.75 spent for relief, $23.00, child welfare; 16 calls, distribution of 23 bouquets, and sprays.
Mrs. Hazel Davis and Mrs. Mitchell served refreshments during the social hour climaxing the meeting.
Reciprocity Board of P. E. O. Meets in Anaheim
Mrs. Wilbert Bonney and Mrs. William Grafton were hostesses Friday at the home of the former on South Lemon street entertaining the Orange county reciprocity board of the P. E. O.
Flowers, with which the tables were arrange, and the dessert course featured the yellow and white colors of the society.

Preceding her marriage, the bride had been the honored guest at a number of pre-nuptial courtesies with one of the most recent a party given for her by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Lawrence Poirier of North Philadelphia street. Mrs. George Poierier and Mrs. May Allec were assistant hostesses.
A pink and white color motif was used both in decorating and in the refreshment service.
Prize winners in hearts, the diversion of the evening were Mrs.Lorena Robbins of Los Angeles and Miss Elizabeth Crist of Yorba Linda.With the awards presented for high score, the honoree received a guest package of a shower of gifts for the new home.

Camp Fire Meet
Anaheim Girl Reserves joined the Fullerton groups in an out-of-door meeting Tuesday evening around a camp fire at Hillecrest park. Local club members also plan to attend morning services Sunday at the Calvary Baptist church in acceptance of the invitation of the church pastor; Rev. V. K. Ledbetter.
Meeting last week at the Presbyterian church, the sophomore group conducted a program with the qualifications for a Girl Reserve ring as the theme of the meeting. Group singing was led by Katherine and Ellen Collins. Margaret Gauer was program chairman.
A program of impromptu talks by club members featured the meeting last week of the senior group. Subjects included "Why I Like Girl Reserves," Elaine Roquet; "My Most Embarrassing Moment," Barbara Baker; "Improvements for the Girl Reserves," Lucille Roquet; "My Most Thrilling Experience," Roberta Beat; "My Most Thrilling Trip," Euelda Bowman; and "My Most Embarrassing Moment," Maxine Hopkins.
Miss Doris Sanford, program chairman; also presented Elaine Winder, a guest, in three readings, "Ma and Her Check Book," "Irish Couquette," and "A proposal."
The double sextette led the devotional service assisted by Helen Hopkins and Doris Berger.

O. E. S. Honors Officers
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Seward, worthy patron and worthy matron of Chipsa chapter, Order of Eastern Star, who recently observed their second wedding anniversary, were honored at the chapter meeting last week. The couple were recipients of a gift from officers and members of the chapter with Mrs. Calara Wilson, associate matron making the presentation.
Mr. Seward conducted initiation services for Mr. Fred Davis. New members received by affiliation were Mrs. Margaret Hedges and Mrs. George Barfoot.

The home of Mrs. M. W. Martenet jr. of South Los Angeles street was the scene Thursday afternoon for the meeting of the Anaheim Garden club. Mrs. R. J. Dugdale assisted Mrs. Martenet with the hostess duties.
The program featured a round table discussion of garden activities and plans for the county wide flower show which will be held in the fall.
Mr.-Rudolph Boyson of the Anaheim City park gave advice on the care of common garden blooms in addition to leading the round table talk.

Mrs. Story was formerly Miss Eloise Wanda Anderton, of Monterey Park, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Anderton of Stinnett, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Story of Stilwell, Okla., are the parents of the bridegroom who has been a resident of Buena Park vicinity for the past several years.
The bride chose as her wedding gown a simply fashioned coral pink silk with white accessories. She wore a corsage bouquet of gardenias.
Mrs. Paul Story of Buena Park and Mrs. Emerson Douglas of Arkansas, both gowned in blue and with corsage bouquets of rosebuds, attended the bride.
Paul Story of Buena Park, who with Mrs. Story entertained with a reception for the bridal couple, was best man.
Mr. and Mrs. Story spent their honeymoon at Catalina Island.
Fifty-Fifty Club
In Spring Formal
Southern California Fifty-Fifty club members have scheduled a spring formal with a supper dance Saturday evening at 9 o'clock at the Lakewood Country club at Long Beach.
Committee members in charge include Hugh Edwards, V. B. Anderson, Clyde Hill, Merrill Gregory, and Hume West.

Auxiliary Hospitalelle

Rebekah Lodge Initiates New Members
Miss Sallie Collins, Miss Irene Menth, and Miss Goldena La Valleur were initiated as new members and Mrs. Ellen Robinson accepted as a transfer when Lois Rebekah lodge members held their regular session Thursday night at the I.O. O. F. hall. The formal initiation service was conducted by the drill team.
A number of invitations to lodge official functions were read. Representatives of the local group will attend vice-grand night April 20 at Orange, a dramatic program of Del Mar lodge of Los Angeles scheduled for April 25 at Santa Ana, a Mothers' Night party May 6 at Fullerton, and the Rebekah assembly scheduled for May 11 at San Diego.
A meeting of the Lois Thimble club was announced for tomorrow (Friday) at the home of Mrs. C. A. Myers.
Mrs. Angeline Davis of Kansas City, a guest, was introduced by Mrs. E. F. Presnell, who presided at the meeting.
Mrs. F. M. Brambley, chairman of the dining room for the evening had arranged decorations of red rose buds.

Mrs. Mabel Dixson, retiring president of the Business and Professional Women's club honored her executive board with a dinner Monday evening at the Doris Katheryn tea room in Santa Ana. Each guest was presented with a souvenir of Mexican glassware by the hostess.
Routine business sessions was held following the dinner. The next regular dinner session of the club will be held May 7.
A reception and installation of officers at the Pickwick this evening will replace the board meeting originally scheduled for tonight.
Officers of the organization for the new year will be Miss Ruth Williams, president; Mrs. Myrtle Henry, first vice-president; Miss Grace Black, second vice-president; Miss Charlotte Smith, recording secretary; Miss Grace Bailey, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Eva Boyd, treasurer; Miss Florence Davis, auditor; Mrs. Fannie Goddard, librarian-historian; Miss Robbie Anderson, parliamentarian; and Mrs. E. Mabel Dixson, Mrs. Marion Scott, and Miss Ann Rheingans, directors.

R. W. Benefit Program Attended
Large and enthusiastic audience of more than 900 members of friends of the Veterans of the Wars post and auxiliary benefited Saturday evening in the hall by the two organizators Hart Hamblin and his group radio artists of KMTR were listed as featured entertainers still billy" program, informature, and featuring councils and stories.

Address Given for D. A. R. on Americanism
An address on "Americanism" by Mr. Roy Helsing, chairman of Americanism for the 21st district of the American Legion featured the program session of the Daughters of the American Revolution Friday afternoon at Pioneer House. The national values of the principles of Americanism were explained in detail.
A nominating committee was appointed by President Mrs. Harry Burden. The group includes Mrs. Fred Sidebottom, Mrs. Leo Sheridan, and Mrs. John Richie.
Hostesses for the tea hour concluding the afternoon session were Mrs. Victor Loly and Mrs. W. M. Chambers.

District Council Of P. T. A. Holds Meeting
With a district meeting already scheduled for June 4 at Garden Grove and a presidents' conference slated as a feature for next month, P. T. A. members are continuing plans for activities begun at the district council meeting Thursday at the White Temple Methodist church.
Officers for the new year named at the meeting were Mrs. C. P. Venderburg of Fullerton, president; Mrs. C. H. Drown of Santa Ana, first vice-president; Mrs. Donald Jordan of Garden Grove, second vice-president; Mrs. Sydney Chapman of Yorba Linda, secretary; Mrs. Richard Korff of Tustin, treasurer; and Mrs. Harry Burden of Anaheim, historian.
Life membership cards were presented Mrs. W. T. Kirven of Garden Grove, retiring district president; and Miss Dorothy Wentz, county librarian. The latter card was given in memory of the first county librarian, Miss Margaret Livingston.
