NATIONAL BUSINESS-PROFESSIONAL WOMEN'S WEEK OBSERVED WITH FULLERTON CLUB
Fullerton club of Business and Professional Women entertained with a St. Patrick-Turkey dinner last week at the Christian church in Fuhrerton, in recognition of National Business and Professional Women's week.
President Ethel Watson, welcomed the guests, which numbered about 150, and introduced special guests of the evening, among them being Mrs. Frank Rospaw, editor and business manager of "Federation News", and president of the Placentia Round Table club; Mrs. Albert Launer, field secretary of the state Federation of Women's clubs; Mrs. Esther Culp Litchfield, dean of women at Fullerton district junior college; Mrs. Cora Williams, of Los Angeles, who accompanied the speaker of the evening, Miss Alma Whitaker; Mabel Kiker, recording secretary for the southern district of B. & P. W. clubs, and finance chairman of the Fullerton club; Genevieve Humiston of Santa Ana, public relations chairman of the southern district B. P. W. club; Miss Vincent Carleton of Anaheim, southern district magazine chairman; Mrs. Margaret Elliot, president of Orange County B. & P. W. clubs and publicity chairman of Fullerton-club; Lorraine French, president of Santa Ana B. & P. W. club and Mrs. Mabel Dixon, president of Anaheim club.
Arrangement of the hall and tables was carried out with St. Patrick basic color schemes, with large bowls of flowers in artistic color harmony. Tall white candles, tied with green bows and set in green bases lighted the tables, and District Heads Honor Guests Of Rebekah's
Mrs. Blanche Chandler, district deputy president, accompanied by Mrs. Lucie Rathbone, district deputy marshal were official guests of the Lois Rebekah lodge at the group session Friday night at the I. O. O. F. hall.
Program numbers, in charge of Mrs. Gertrude Rohwer included novelty song and dance selections by Bernice and Marilyn Hargrove of the Anaheim Conservatory of Music: They were accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Lola Cleland. Fred Ashton, Long Beach magician, presented a series of card acts.
A meeting of the Thimble club was announced for tomorrow afternoon with Mrs. Edna Brambley hostess at her home in Brea. Clayton Allen, drill master, has scheduled drill practice for the evening of April 8 at the I. O. O. F. hall.
A refreshment service, with Mrs. Mary Mitchell as chairman, concluded the Friday session.
77th Birthday Observed With Dinner Party
Honoring the 77th birthday anniversary of W. C. McAfee. Mrs. McAfee and her daughter, Miss Mildred McAfee entertained with a dinner party Thursday evening.

Arrangement of the hall and tables was carried out with St. Patrick basic color schemes, with large bowls of flowers in artistic color harmony. Tall white candles, tied with green bows and set in green bases lighted the tables, and individual place favors and cards were of the shamrock design combined with the emblem of the club. Guests of honor were presented with ranunculae corsages. During the dinner hour Miss Joyce Campbell, Miss Jane Bemis and Miss Barbara Luff, violin-piano trio, favored the guests with a number of selections. Mrs. Elliott led the group singing in which all participated as Mrs. Lola Richman played the piano accompaniment.
As a special prelude to the speakers program of the evening Second Vice-President and program chairman, Alice Smith introduced Mrs. W. Jackson Scott who sang "The Kerry Dance," "Gay Butterfly" and "The Big Brown Bear." Miss Elizabeth Huntiker of Anaheim accompanied her.
The speaker of the evening, Aima Whitaker, who is the author of "Sugar and Spice" and a columist on the Los Angeles Times, did not speak on a given topic, but rather, entertained the guests with remarks on various topics, dwelling particularly on "Hollywood Gossip." She mentioned in particular Mrs. Patrick Campbell, an English actress, as being one of the most interesting characters in Hollywood. Many of the noted screen folk were mentioned, with amusing as well as interesting anecdotes of each. Miss Whitaker also spoke of the really good work done through the efforts of Amie Semple McPherson, mentioning in particular the fact that those in need were "housed and fed tonight, and questioned later." She closed her narrative talk with suggestions on pictures worth seeing.
Members of the Anaheim club who attended the dinner were Mrs. E. Mabel Dixon, Miss Grace Bailey, Miss Vincent Carleton, Mrs. Mabel Hamler, Miss Madge Sproul, Miss Ruth Williams, Miss Thomas Fau, Mrs. Clara Mork presented a patriotic program. Color bearers were Mrs. Pearl Fergus, Mrs. Mary Mitchell, Mrs. Bessie Fitzpatrick, Mrs. Alma Pressel, Mrs. Mamie Brumagin, and Mrs. Davis. The group were introduced by Mrs. Ida J. Hughes.
Introduction of Mrs. Mary Nerdrum, representative of the Anaheim high school senior class in the current D. A. R. contest for good citizenship and scholarship featured the D. A. R. session which followed the program.
Tea and wafers were served by the hostess committee including Mrs. J. B. Hasty, Mrs. Leo Sheridan, and Mrs. J. F. Ritchie.
Frances Willard Honored at W.C.T.U.Session
Celebrating the opening of the Frances Willard centennial, a five year plan of education and work with W.C.T.U. ideals, county unions met Tuesday evening for a dinner session at the Santa Ana Christian church. Mrs. Eva Craven Wheeler, state W.C.T.U. president was guest speaker. "Frances Willard, We March!" was the topic of the event.
Other speakers were Dr. A. E. Keiley, president of the Santa Ana Ministerial Union, Mrs. Albert Launer of Fullerton, northern Orange county. Y.W.C.A. president, and Mrs.R.R.Lutes of Santa Ana.
Entertainment included a vocal solo by Miss Elsie Moore of Fullerton, violin solo by Miss Charlotte Stafford, and piano solo by Mrs. Carl Seamans of Yorba Linda.
DeMolay Benefit Card Party Attracts Crowd
One hundred guests attended the card party sponsored Monday evening in the Masonic temple by members of the De Molay chapter. First award went to Walter Lowe. Guild Announces Plans for Fashion Tea
Plans for the annual fashion tea slated for April 18 were announced following the meeting of St. Agnes guild of St. Michael's Episcopal church Monday night at the home of Mrs. D. Howard Dow on East Adele street. The affair, featuring a Japanese motif, will be held at the Elk's club. Mrs. J. E. Wallace is in charge of the tea and Miss Dorothy Yungbluth the fashion show. Mrs. Henry Hodges is ticket committee chairman. Time was spent at the Monday evening session in making Oriental favors for the affair.
Mrs. Kenneth Sloop and Mrs. James R. Kilduff, who assisted Mrs. Dow as hostesses, appointed the long dining table in fern and nasturtiums for the occasion. Birthday anniversaries of Mrs. Kilduff, Mrs. H. C. Wilhelm, and and Mrs. E. M. Dixson were honored.
New members welcomed were Mrs. Robert Rossberg and Mrs. Larry Costa.

Mrs. George Hatfield, circle president, was in charge of plans assisted by the other officers, Mrs. A. J. Plegel, Mrs. Jack Keith, and Mrs. Grace Lee.
Group Attends County Dinner
A party of W. C. T. U. friends and members attended the dinner Tuesday night in Santa Ana honoring the Frances Willard centennial and the opening of a five year plan of education in W. C. T. U. ideals. Eva Craven Wheeler, state president was the speaker with "Frances Willard, We March" as her topic. Mrs. Albert Launer of Fullerton, northern Orange county Y. W. C. A. president was a second speaker.
In the group were Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Elliott, Mrs. J. H. Daugherty, Mrs. Rosetta Gibson, Miss Hazel Gibson, and Mrs. Fred A. Altenow.
Is Reviewed At Book Section
"England Speaks," Sir Phillip Gibb's presentation of the back ground of English life was reviewed at the meeting of the Ebell Book Section Monday afternoon at the K. P. hall by Mr. H. H. Benjamin. The book was written as an answer to the superposition that all English people are of a monotonous temperament and emotion.
The book opens with the time of the signing of the Armistice and continues through present day conditions. Characters rank from the derelict to famous world figures. Mrs. Benjam read interesting selections from the book in addition to giving detailed descriptions of the features of the book. Mrs. C. A. Neigbors, section leader; introduce the speaker.
Fruit blossoms were combined with white petunia in appointing the tea table. White tapers were used with the flowers. Mrs. Lau Sears, a former leader of the section, and Mrs. Leo J. Friis, president of the Ebell club poured Hostesses were Mrs. M. A. Gauk Mrs. Arthur Porter, Mrs.Hermann Togle, and Mrs.Neighbors.
B and P.W Club To Hold Dinner Session
Calvin Flint, dean of men Santa Ana junior college will speak at the meeting of B and P.W club slated for evening at 6:30 o'clock at Marigold cafe.Music will be provided by Mrs. Arthur Kemp Anaheim soloist.

Green and Gold
Luncheon Held
For O.E.S. Group
An Eastern Star green and gold motif was used when Mrs. John Saenger entertained members of the Orange County Conductress association with a luncheon Saturday afternoon at her home at 115 East Wilhelmina street. Spring flowers in gold tones with green tapers centered the table. The green and gold motif was continued in the dessert course of ice cream and cake.
A study of parliamentary law featured the business session with Mrs. Helen Lurker of Santa Ana in charge.
Others present were Mrs. Ruth de Buxton of Norwalk and Mrs. Inez Orton of Huntington Beach, sponsors of the organization, Miss Marian Scheifele of Artesia, secretary; Mrs. Florence Farnum, Norwalk; Mrs. Martha Landell, Buena Park; Mrs. Lilian Rivers, Fullerton; Mrs. Nettie Nagley, Brea; Mrs. Mabel Welsh, La Habra; Mrs. Gale Lagenbeck, Huntington Beach; and Mrs. Anita Brown, Fullerton, assistant hostess.
Mrs. Nagle and Mrs. Welch will entertain the group at the next meeting.

The 77th birthday anniversary of W. C. McAfee. Mrs. and her daughter, Miss McAfee entertained with party Thursday evening family home, 121 West Street. Dinner Program Held by Masonic Lodge
More than 175 guests attended the Ladies' night dinner dance and program held Friday at the Masonic temple.
A special program was presented in the lodge hall following the dinner, with A. B. Cross as master of ceremonies, with Jimmie MacKenzie of Huntington Park presenting Scotch selections, as the first number. He was accompanied at the piano by Marshall McFee. Numbers were "Three For Jack," "Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes," and in costume, "Waggle O' the Kilt," and "Roaming in the Gloaming." Irish songs, "The Rose of Tralee," and "The Tumble Down Shack in Athlone," were given as vocal solos by Patrick Enright accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Enright.
Trumpet solos, "Beauteous Song" and "The Villia Song" were by Miss Vivial Held. Mrs. A. P. M. Brown accompanied Mrs. Walter Ross at the piano for "Indian Love Call," "Rose Marie," and "Alone."
Warren and Harry Heckman, pupils of the Richards-Martin studio, danced an Irish jig and waltz clog accompanied at the piano by Mrs. H. H. Heckman. A monologue concerning the activities of a modern youth was given by Miss Marjorie Carlisle, dramatic pupil of Daphne Goss Hellerman. Violin selections, "Meditation from Tais" and "Puesta Song" with accompaniment by Beatrice Campbell, were by Willard Cross.
Cards and dancing, in charge of Hugo Schulz, provided entertainment following the program.
Dinner tables were decorated in tiny spring blossoms and fern. Boy Scouts of troop 71 assisted the Refreshment Committee in serving the dinner.

Anaheim Guests Attend Bridal Shower
A number of Anaheim guests attended the bridal shower given Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schroeder in Santa Ana honoring Miss Lillian Hanson. On Easter Sunday the honoree will become the bride of Melvin Witt.
Anaheim guests were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mauerhan, Miss Marguerite Schlosser, Miss Mildred Mauerhan, and Lester Rohrs.
Fifty-Fifty Club Plans Dinner Dance
Southern California Fifty-Fifty club members are to meet Saturday evening at the Mayfair club in Los Angeles for the opening activity of the spring season.
Committee members in charge of the 7:30 o'clock dinner arrangements are Harl Crockett, Irving Wardman, Ray Hiniker, Al Colby, and Bob Redington.
