One grand juryman is reported to have said the matter had not been discussed at all, and that the first he heard of it was in the newspapers. Such combination requires a resolution of the board of supervisors, but to be really effective so far as making any saving is concerned it would require considerable state legislation. So long as the same amount of work had to be done it would take just as many people and just as much expense. To effect a real saving it would be necessary to change a good deal of the present system which is set up for county government. It is a safe guess that nothing will come of it.
