Kansans Will Meet In Long Beach
Judge Wm. F. Schoch, President of the Long Beach Kansas Association, announces the annual Kansas Day Picnic reunion, celebrating the 73rd anniversary of statehood, all day Wednesday, January 29, in beautiful Bixby Park, Long Beach, and the park is for Jayhawkers alone all day long, plenty of room.
There will be county registers and headquarters so all may find the old neighbors even with thousands present.
There will be a brief program opening at two o'clock, songs, short talks, and a greeting from Gov. Alf. Landon.
All the tourists and visitors from the old home state will be made welcome and may meet the old time friends. Coffee will be served to all who buy souvenir badges. Each one who learns of this is asked to pass the word along.
Further information may be had of C. H. Parsons, Secretary of the Federation of State Societies, office in the Seaboard National Bank, Spring and 6th Streets, Los Angeles, Phone MUtual 1981, where the Kansas register may be seen, or Wm. F. Schoch, Long Beach.

Improvements Are Made, Ford Radio
With 1935's production totaling close to a quarter of a million sets, The Ford Motor Company announces numerous improvements to the 1936 Ford radio.
E. R. McCoy, local Ford dealer, feels that in 1936 the volume of Ford radios will be materially increased due to these improvements, plus the fact that every day more and more motorists are turning to the use of car radios.
From the standpoint of appearance, the most important change in the new Ford radio is the adoption of an invisible speaker, mounted above the windshield. The sloping, rounded roof lines remain unbroken and listeners in the car have the benefit of ear-level reception.
The set continues to be of six tubes, but with a number of chassis improvements. The chassis case has been shortened and made more compact, fitting underneath the instrument panel and above the steering column.
Sensitivity of the Ford radio has been increased and its internal circuit filtering has been improved to keep out external interference, such as that from high tension wires and street cars. For the city driver, especially, reception now is excellent.
The speaker is of a new design mounted flush on the header bars above the windshield. When installed it is completely out of sight, covered by the car trim. The speaker cone has been re-designed to insure improved reception throughout the scale, including high notes and bass notes. Instead of having a three-point tone control, a constantly variable tone

A. H. Brouse, chosen president of this year's committee, has pledged himself to make the twenty-sixth citrus exposition an event surpassing in beauty and entertainment its 25 predecessors.

Stars of stage, screen, radio and circus will be seen in the spectacular program of entertainment that is planned by the committee. In addition, there will be an educational features including the famous Citrus Institute in which every grower is keenly interested, demonstrations of methods by which oranges and their allied fruits may be turned into delectable dishes by the housewife, and the part the juices play in beverage roles.

All Ready For Big Show of '36
Binnie Barnes and little Sybil Jason were among the many stars to phone Alfred Lushing, president of Mount Sinai Home for Invalids yesterday, stating that they would gladly appear at the monster "Dick Powell-Jack Benny All Star Show of 1936", to be held at the Shrine Civic Auditorium, January 25th. This makes the number of famous people of stage, screen and radio a grand total of 110 to-date, according to Municipal Judge Benj. Scheinman of the Advisory Board of the non-sectarian home.
Yesterday Leo Carrillo, Sid Grauman, Sidney Blackmer, Vince Barnett, Le Roy Prinz and Monte Blue who will handle the enormous detail of keeping things moving back stage for the big benefit performance, started work planning the program for the affair.
With the Southern California Music Co., reporting heavy advance sales and outlying towns crying for more tickets for their respective box offices, the 7000-Los Angeles Shrine Civic Auditorium is expected to find the seating capacity inadequate.
Mae West is expected to lend her great showmanship ideas to the stage committee. Miss West is one of the bright particular sponsors of the show.
The Los Angles Shrine Civic Auditorium box office will be open daily from Thursday on, it was wires and street cars.
Instead of having a three-point tone control, a constantly variable tone control is now used.
Of course a private citizen sometimes has to borrow money to carry on his business. He is in the red, but thinks he is in the black so long as the sheriff does not pounce down upon him.
