Is my face red...er sumin'...and all because I thought I had a friend or two among the Legionnaires that visited the flag presentation at El Toro CCC camp last Saturday afternoon...Yeah, I got bogged in...no the new word is bondoggled...It seems that the skipper, Captain Thomas asked for a couple of buglers from the Anaheim post to blow retreat and colors...and here after nearly 100 years in uniform I found out that I didn't know that retreat and to the colors was the same call...oh me, oh my. Anyway I think that J. D. Wilcox could have told me that there was no difference.I always thought there was.But then things will change. However, the three bugle-buzzards did very well.instead of verbally bawling me out they just blew To The Colors twice and that made everything lovely.Of course there were some other army officers there who were as ignorant as I and they, too, thought the boys made an error...but like all army officers we were all wrong...maybe.
However, with two navy men in an army camp trying to blow a bugle...they did pretty well...the other navy man was the 15th assistant postmaster general of the Anaheim Postal Department
The place was simply over by cops and cop's bosses (mor bosses) Mayor Charley Mann there with his special Q man a little different than G man Q man is a quizz man) Jim B din is the man in this case.Jim always asking questions...may know the answers BUT well anyway Jim beat the commissioner of Santa Ana (there) with Mayor Fred Rowla when OUR chief got up and pointed (or should I say annoi if so, it is advised) all men of the Soil Conservation Camp at El Toro (that means they are saving the dirt for the L and in some places a bull is vernacular for cop which in t

Jim's asking questions... he now the answers BUT... anyway Jim beat the police assister of Santa Ana (also with Mayor Fred Rowland,OUR chief got up and apol (or should I say annointed so, it is advised) all 208 of the Soil Conservation at El Toro (that means they living the dirt for the Bull some places a bull is the usual for cop which in turn is a pet name for a policeman or peace officer... (objection sustained) as members of the Anaheim Crop of Savages... o, beg your pardon I mean Anaheim Corpse of Peace or in other words minions of the law (and if you think that last is a nonsensical soubriquet Teed you can look it up) Anyway Anaheim has an additional police force of 208.
Alas, poor Jimmy... he didn't get his "duck-ats" for the big game... but then cheer up Jimmy... I didn't either... and I'm on a weekly... so I guess there's no chance.
I listened to the game over the raddio (note the second "d") gettin' up there with this language business) and from what some tell me it was a better game that way anyway.
Wonder if K. B. Rigby has decided which portion of his ana-tomy he really hurt... he has... he thinks... a sprained ankle and then again his knee hurts... so he has trouble trying to decide which is hurt... How he got hurt?... Well he stays with his story... he was waiting for a street car and stepped down off a curb... on New Year's Day. Oh, yes, in Anaheim.
Eddis "Ababa" Lane has been getting up before breakfast lately... he's the handy man of the VFW and I've seen him twice now trying to emulate a contortionist walking down the street... one would think the bracing morning air was cool... but then well maybe it was a little early... who knows... I don't... I wasn't entirely awake myself.

FAIR AND WARMER
Some correspondents have been chirping for several years that Russia is warlike and is preparing for war with Japan, but the average Russian doesn't even know what a safety razor looks like.
