Pep Boys Stocks Offer Solution Gift Problems
Offering practical answers to many gift problems, The Pep Boys of California this week open their big Christmas sales drive with complete displays of useful and welcome gifts. Indications are that this will be the biggest December in Pep Boys history, according to Murray Rosenfeld, general manager of the California organization.
"There's no such thing as a 'gift problem' in our stores," Mr. Rosenfeld said this week. "There are literally hundreds of very practical, beautiful gifts. Any motorist delights in accessories which improve the appearance and performance of his car, or that add to safety and comfort in driving. And of course, there are also many gifts that would appeal to anyone, motorist or not.
"Our prices, the world's lowest, have been even further reduced in many cases as an extra Christmas convenience to our clients.
In addition to automotive necessities, the Santa Ana store, 211 North Main Street, is also featuring tubes and other radio supplies, Christmas-tree lights, and a large list of tools and merchandise of interest to house wives.

Color Has Meaning
When Used on Curbs
By the color on the curb auto-ists should know whether to stop or not to stop, according to department of motor vehicles.
Red means no stopping, standing or parking whether the vehicle is attended or not, except that a bus may stop if a signpost specifies the area is for passenger loading purposes.
Yellow means stopping only for loading or unloading passengers.
Green means time-limit parking.

HAND QUICKER THAN EYE
When it comes to balancing the budget one of the members of the brain trust is a wizard at handling the dole dollars in substraction and addition in order to make it appear that both ends will meet, and some of his followers think he could pull a white rabbit out of the plug hat.
RUNNING UP
LIGHTNING RODS
This is open season for candidates for president an dout there in Kansas the republicans have picked a man who knows his taxes and never saw red ink and believe it would be well to land on him. Away down east there is a favorite son in Pennsylvania whose motor is in good order and never knocks. Up in New York they are going to fish for a man who has good bait. But believe it or not out here in Palo Alto there is a man who has good herbs to cure the ills of the new deal and he also has a long pole. If the convention is in a receptive mood, after looking over the field of prospective candidates, it is possible that he may knock the persimmon. And all the school boys know the democrats have their candidate in the bag.
