Department Commander of Patriarchs Militant Is Visitor In Anaheim; Checking Convention
George W. Mitchell, department commander of the Patriarchs Militant, the uniform rank of the Odd Fellows was a visitor in Anaheim on Saturday at which time he looked over the tentative arrangements made for the coming conclave.
Those meeting with Mr. Mitchell Saturday afternoon were Robert M. Funk of Pomona, grand patriarch of the grand encampment; Mrs. Mattie Mitchell of San Francisco and Mrs. Julia Baker of Whittler, president and vice-president, respectively, of the ladies' auxiliary, the uniformed branch of the order for the women; and the following Anaheim Odd Fellows and Rebekahs: J. S. Howard, general chairman of the convention committee; Henry A. Mang, executive secretary;
C. J. Mauerhan, captain of Santa Ana Canton; W. D. Peterkin, C. M. Bamborough, R. N. Pollock, Miss Hannah L. Horwitz, corresponding secretary; Adele M. Howard, and Greta M. Mang.
Mang reports that the group was well pleased with conditions here both at the city park, where many of the events will be staged and throughout the rest of the city where other features will be carried out. Some of the visitors said that in the last 30 years no city had been able to offer as satisfactory a set-up for the convention as Anaheim, and they forecast that this convention will be one of the finest ever held, according to the executive secretary. Mang says the group was also impressed with the interest being taken by the residents of Anaheim, the chamber of commerce, and other bodies.

Anyway, the occasion being that his son is, or was, entertaining a number of friends marking his birth anniversary. The young man refused to tell a reporter from the Gazette just what he would serve his guests, but we were
