No damage was done when spontaneous combustion broke out in rubbish at the Curran Auto Wrecking company plant on North Los Angeles street. Firemen answered the call Monday evening and quickly extinguished the flames.

W.F. Stranskes On Honeymoon
Will Make Home Either at Whittier or Norwalk on Return from Trip
Friends and relatives of newly-wedded Mr. and Mrs. William F. Stranske this week awaited word from the honeymooners somewhere at the mountain or seashore resorts of Southern California. The newlyweds, married Friday evening at the home of the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Stranske of 328 West Elm street, Anaheim, plan to make their home either at Norwalk or Whittier.
The marriage was officiated by Rev. O. R. Schroeder of the Bethel Baptist church. Only intimate friends and relatives were present.
The bride wore a pretty ensemble of light blue complemented by white accessories. Her arm bouquet was of bride's roses.
Miss Tracy Stranske, sister of the bridegroom, wearing a becoming yellow crepe with white accessories, attended as maid of honor.
Arthur Stranske, brother of the bridegroom, assisted as best man.
An improvised altar massed with gladioli and greenery over which hung a beautiful wedding bell festooned with blue and white streamers was arranged as an effective setting for the exchange of nuptial vows.
Following the service, Mrs. C. Stranske, attired in a lovely yellow ensemble, received her guests at an informal reception. She was assisted by her daughters, the Misses Malinda and Tracy Stranske. Centering the prettily appointed bridal table was a wedding cake topped with a miniature bride-and-bridegroom.

Newlywed To Make Home In Alhambra Soon
Miss Grace Jackson Marries Frank Humphrey Early Saturday, July 8
Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Humphrey, the latter nee Miss Grace Jackson, will make their home at 838 South Sixth street, Alhambra, upon their return this week from a short honeymoon. They were married in an impressive ceremony at 8 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Michael's Episcopal church, with Rev. D. Howard Dow, rector, officiating. Only relatives and intimate friends were present.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Jackson of 217 East Broadway street. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Humphrey of Santa Ana.
The altar, before which the marriage vows were exchanged, was banked with white gladioli, greenery and tall, white lighted tapers.
A fifteen minute organ recital, played by Mason Henry, preceded Lohengrin's wedding march that heralded the entry of the bridal party.
The bride, entering on the arm of her father, was beautifully gowned in a long poudre blue silk crepe frock, with which she wore a white organdy picture hat, white organdy gloves and white shoes. Following a tradition established severaj years ago the bride's bouquet of white rosebuds and lilies of the valley was centered with four orchids presented her as a member of the Spinster's club by Dr. J. P. Brastad.
Miss Norma Brastad, as maid of honor, wore a long frock of pink organza and an organdy hat of matching shade. She carried an arm bouquet of pink sweet peas.
Harold L. Fish of Santa Ana acted as best man.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, the rooms of which further carried out the color motif used at the church, in the tall baskets of white gladiolus.
The Little Theatre Guild of Orange county will present "Uncle Tom's Cabin," Harriet Beecher Stowe's famous history-making story, at the Knights of Pythias hall on the evenings of July 27 and 29. The play is given under the sponsorship of the Pleiades club as a benefit affair for the St. Michael's Episcopal church.
Rev. D. Howard Dow, rector of St. Michael's, will be director. For many years before entering the priesthood he was an actor and director, having once acted in this particular play. He played juvenile parts at one time with Florence Reed and was director of the Community Players of Colorado Springs, a well known dramatic organization.
Rehearsals are beginning at once and the selection of the cast will be completed by Monday. Director Dow declared.
The leading roles will be taken by Talbot Bielefeldt of Placentia as "Uncle Tom"; George Littlefield of Anaheim as "Phineas Fletcher," the Kentucky mountaineer who "fell in love with a lass and turned Quaker," Mrs. G. Sullivan of Placentia as "Topsy" the Negro girl; 12-year-old Audrey Watkins of Fullerton as "Little Eva," Tom Hunter of Fullerton as Lawyer Marks, Darell Webb of Anaheim as Simon Legree and Allee Garen as St. Claire, the plantation owner.
Rehearsals this week will be held in the Guild hall on North Emily street, but later will be held in the different communities.

She has been extended many pre-nuptial courtesies by both California and Oklahoma friends. Having resided for the past several years with relatives in Norwalk, she attended schools in that vicinity.
Included at the wedding and reception besides members of the bridal party were Mr. and Mrs. E. Frey and son Robert of Los Angeles, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Krukenberg of Norwalk, Mrs. M. Bressel and son Eugene Bressel of Anaheim, Mrs. Ames of Norwalk, the bridegroom's parents and family.
Reid Tells About Recovery Measure
Secretary George W. Reid of the Anaheim chamber of commerce Monday gave local Rotarians at their regular luncheon-meeting in the Elks clubhouse, his interpretation of the national industrial recover act through which this city hopes to finance several projects.
Dr. Walter Bigham was program chairman, with Director E. B. Hapgood presiding in the absence of President D. D. Waynick.

Report On White House Committee
Appointments Announced at Regular Meeting of Home Department of Bureau
At the regular monthly meeting of the home department in the farm bureau office in Santa Ana the following appointments to the White House committee were ratified: Mr. F. L. Benson for the Anaheim area; Mrs. H. B. Tritt, Foothill Center; Mrs. Carl Nichols, Garden Grove; Miss Evelyn Robinson, La Habra; Mrs. L. N. Cookson, Orange-thorpe-Fullerton; Mrs. George W. Riehl, Placentia; Mrs. C. R. Cook, San Juan Capistrano; Mrs. J. F. Witt, West Orange; Mrs. A. B. McDavid, Yorba Linda.
These appointees will constitute the White House Committee of the Farm Bureau and will cooperate with Miss Kate Rae of Anaheim, who is county chairman. The objective of the White House Committee work is to correlate and further child welfare work throughout the nation, compiling the results of past endeavors and planning future developments.
Other business included a report by Mrs. S. W. Stanley of Tustin of the recent meeting of farm bureau region No. 1 at Camp Laguna in the San Diego mountains, which included progress reports upon the home department programs in each of the seven southern counties, except San Bernardino, which was not represented at the regional meeting.
Reports showed that the home de-valley was centered with four orchids presented her as a member of the Spinster's club by Dr. J. P. Brastad.

The bride graduated from the Anaheim Union high school in the class of 1925 and since then has been employed in the Anaheim branch of the Bank of America and more recently in the trust department of the branch bank of Santa Ana.
The bridegroom is employ- in the Security First National bank in Los Angeles. He recently passed his state bar examination.

Although President D. D. Waynick still is absent as a delegate to the international convention at Boston, which he attended as a delegate from Anaheim Rotary club, the club's committees for the coming year were announced at Tuesday's luncheon-meeting, held in the Elks clubhouse.
Conrad Jongewaard has been re-appointed secretary: H. E. W. Barnes, son, leader, and Arthur Shipkey and Carl F. Leonard as sergeant at arms.
Directors of the club who will serve with President Waynick are Bert Kirchmann, K. B. Rigby, Wilburt Bonney, E. P. Hapgood and Harry Pearson.

New Swim Class Begins This week

Stanley of Tustin of the recent meeting of farm bureau region No. 1 at Camp Laguna in the San Diego mountains, which included progress reports upon the home department programs in each of the seven southern counties, except San Bernardino, which was not represented at the regional meeting.
Reports showed that the home department had assisted in the recent membership drive in three centers by preparing breakfasts for the workers. The Garden Grove committee brought in the largest number of new members after the breakfast and lunch supplied under the direction of Mrs. W. O. Broady and W. H. Stennett. Mrs. A. F. Schroeder was in charge of the West Orange breakfast, and Mrs. L. A. Bortz, Mrs. C. A. Palmer and Mrs. C. O. Thompson provided for the Foothill center workers.
Following a report on girls 4-H Club activities, the desirability of holding a club festival in the autumn was favorably discussed.
Before adjourning, the motion was passed to take a vacation during August, so that the next county meeting will be the first Friday in September, 9:30 a.m., in the Farm Bureau office.
Explosion Victim Buried Wednesday
Numerous friends, sorrowed by his sudden death following a tank house explosion on his Yorba Linda ranch Friday morning, attended the funeral Wednesday afternoon at Fullerton for Orlo Stanbro. Rev. Wesley Runyan of the Christian church of Brea officiated, while Spanish-American war veterans conducted services at the grave in Loma Vista cemetery.
Mr. Stanbro had been in this district for 14 years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Marie Stanbro, and four sons, Earl, Harold, Harry and Russell, all living at home.
Installation of President Waynick and the new directors and committees is to take place immediately upon the return of Dr. Waynick from the east.
New Swim Class Begins This week
Miss Mildred Staples began new classes in swimming, diving and lifesaving at the Anaheim city park plunge Wednesday. Classes are started every two weeks by the instructoress, who announces that special classes for clubs and organized groups may be arranged by telephoning her.
A group of eleven have already qualified for their beginners' buttons this season. They are: Jack Gledhill, John Harpster, Robert Hartranft, Mrs. Ellen Dunn, Mrs. Daisy Shaw, Harold McClellan, Robert Delop, Charles Booher, Ted Sheridan, Louise Davis, Martha Grace Powell.
Swimming Buttons have been awarded the following: Anita Flynn, Maynard Sievek, Margaret Rannow, Betty Ross, Dick Esker, Jean Carleton, Jimie Ulbricht, Paul Ulbricht, Betty Jean Hanson, Vivian Luckett.
Senior life saving awards have been earned by Oden Smith and Leigh Dutton.
Merchants Vote "In Open" Soon
When members of the Merchants and Manufacturers association ballot for officers at the final meeting in August, they will do so "in the open".
This arrangement was planned at the meeting last week, when Ed M. Keith of the J. C. Penny store and Voss Herrington of the Paris Cleaners were nominated for the presidency to succeed Harold Keirsey. Herrington also was nominated with Bill Payne, Sam Adams, B. J. Cooper and Henry Dubois for the vice-presidency. At the election, the association will hold an outdoor luncheon, probably in the city park.
Welfare Directors Named Last Week
Oscar Heying of Anaheim, representing the northern section of Orange county; Mrs. R. G. Tuttle of Santa Ana, the southern section; and J. K. McDonald, Huntington Beach, the coast area; constitute the county welfare commission appointed last week to administer R. F. C. funds expended in this county. The positions are non-salaried.
Appointments were made by County Welfare Director R. V. Curry following conferences with the board of supervisors, conforming to requirements of the R. F. C. regulations.
Central Exchange Ships 55 Carloads
Packing houses affiliated with the Central Orange County Citrus exchange last week shipped 55 cars of valencias under the prorate agreement.
Florida's fruit rapidly disappearing from the market at this season the local orange association officials anticipate a rapidly accelerating list of shipments.
