Meeting of board of trustees called to order by President Zeyn. Minutes of last meeting read and approved.
Mr. Schneider asked another week to look up the company's scrapers. Granted.
Treasurer reported cash on hand $378.97 and $46.50 distributed to old shareholders. D. Strodthoff reported having completed 2400 yards of main canal, 16 men earned $77.75 and D. Strodthoff bill as superintendent $12.00, both bills ordered paid. Meeting adjourned.

Meeting of board of trustees called to order by President Zeyn. Minutes of last meeting read and approved.
D. Strodthoff reported the completion of main canal, balance due for labor and supervision $52.50, ordered paid. Bill from Glasell & Chapman for legal services $50.00. Not accepted.
Resolved to hire zanjero, secretary instructed to post notice to that effect. Application to be made in writing and handed in at the next meeting.
Secretary instructed to send the common council a bill for use of "calaboose." Resolved to write out a contract specifying the duties of zanjero, in relation to Anaheim Water Co. Meeting adjourned.

Meeting of board of trustees called to order by President Zeyn. Minutes of last meeting read and approved.
The committee to inspect main canal, asked for further time, granted.
Treasurer reported the sum of $236.72 on hand.
In regard to the delinquent payments of Extension people for water rights, also delinquents of last assessments the treasurer is instructed to try and collect same. Bill from Langenberger & Co., for sundries, $5.62, ordered paid. The bill of $50.00 for legal advice from port accepted and resolved to hire surveyor.
Application from Richmond to make ditch to carry waste water, accepted.
Motion made and carried to sell surplus water to outsiders, according to the new rules, further that a new gate be placed in main canal to run surplus water to Parker and Richmond. President to inform Mr. Richmond that he may construct said ditch. Water sales $5.00. Meeting adjourned.

Regular meeting of board of trustees called to order by President Zeyn. Minutes of Jan. 21 and 24 read and approved.
Committee reported having notified Mr. Richmond to go ahead with waste ditch, and having ordered lumber for gate in main canal. Also interviewing Surveyor Knox, who said he would rather do the surveying of extension of main canal and would rather do the work gratis than accept the low price offered him.
Treasurer reported as not being able to collect rent for "calaboose" from city, reason no money in hand now for that purpose. Treasurer reported paying city taxes of $3.15. Cash on hand $256.45.
Zanjero reported water coming into Anaheim today. The gate placed in main canal to be of a worthless, cheap construction, which will not be of service long.
Bill of zanjero for labor $24.25, ordered paid. Bill for committee work by Zeyn, Strodthoff and Schneider, $15.00, ordered paid.
Contract with zanjero accepted and signed.
Petition from Theo. Reiser to declare ditch from F-2 to F-4, a main ditch, granted.
Petition from Mr. Floyd from El Monte to buy water right for his 50 acres, tabled.
Mr. Kelly, lot 16, section 16, bought and carpenter work $23.27; committed account book for A petition for street with subscriber up for debate. A said petition, very necessity of these decided to build help of money ceded also to Aliso Street between Resolved, to make les street between corner, wider and ner and Strodthoff tee to confer with above bridges.

The committee to inspect main canal asked for further time, granted.
Treasurer reported the sum of $236.72 on hand.

Resolved, to call extra meeting for Wednesday evening, Jan. 18, to consider the proposition of water regulation and charges.
The election of zanjero was next taken up. Three applications were read as follows: H. Knapke, salary $70.00; Louis Dorr, salary $75.00; and Chris Meyerholz, salary $70.00 per month. The choice was deferred to special meeting of Jan. 18. Meeting adjourned.

Anaheim, Jan. 18, 1871.
Special meeting of board of trustees called to order by President Zeyn. All members present. This meeting being called to discuss a new arrangement of water distribution and new rates. A lengthy debate followed, resulting in dividing the head stream into two streams, allowing one-fourth hour difference in time of users on the upper part of the ditch and one-half hour on the lower part of ditch and one-fourth hour on south branch to lots G and H. The new rate shall be three hours for $1.00.
Resolved, to allow the zanjero 1 hour variation in time to regulate his streams. In winter he figures 13 hours to deliver 12 hours water and in summer 16 hours to deliver 15 hours water.
Resolved, that in the future zanjero occupy the zanjero room as his office.
Resolved, that salary of zanjero be $70.00 a month, $50.00 to be paid monthly and the balance if he fulfills his duties at the end of his term (one year). Secretary instructed to draw up a contract and submit same at the next regular meeting. Zanjero will be chosen at the next meeting. Meeting adjourned.

Meeting of board of trustees called to order by President Zeyn. Minutes of Jan. 14, and 18, approved as read.
Committee reported not having inspected and asked one week further time, granted.
Bill of zanjero for labor $24.25, ordered paid. Bill for committee work by Zeyn, Strodthoff and Schneider, $15.00, ordered paid.
Contract with zanjero accepted and signed.

Resolved that from this date the secretary receive $10.00 per month for his labor.
Resolved, that another main ditch be opened to supply extension people, to join ditch between Korn and Burckley's lots, then between Boege and Neipps.
Resolved that ditch committee arrange with zanjero about this ditch.
Secretary to post notices of water sales, both in German and English. Also instructed to make out receipt for rent of city lot No. 33. President Zeyn to collect said rent. Water sales $27.00. Meeting adjourned.

Committee reported giving the contract to make new ditch in extension to T. Boege.
Treasurer reported cash on hand $290.70. Also for distribution to old stockholders $63.50. Bill from zanjero, labor and sundries, $56.63, ordered paid: Bill from Richmond for putting gate in main canal, $8.00, allowed and ordered paid. Bill of Louis Dorr for drawing up contract with zanjero $2.00, ordered paid. For committee duty, Zeyn and Schneider, $5.00, ordered paid.
Resolved, that to figure night irrigation 10 hours, and charges for water to be five hours for $1.00. Zanjero instructed to run water into new waste canal, to test same and also the gate put in by Richmond. Water sales $48.00. Meeting adjourned.

Meeting of board of trustees called to order by President Zeyn. Minutes of Jan. 14, and 18, approved as read.

Treasurer reported cash on hand $231.10 and to distribute to old stockholders $42.59. Still due the company the sum of $242.50. Bill from J. Dryer for two bridges, $25.00, and Glasell & Chapman $50.00 for legal advice, were tabled. Treasurer instructed to settle with common council the city tax and school tax.
Secretary submitted a contract with zanjero, same to be acted on at the next meeting.
The election of zanjero resulted in choice of H. Knapke at $70.00 per month, $50.00 paid monthly and balance at end of term.
Resolved that the standing committee instruct the zanjero in his duties next Monday, sign the contract and deliver an inventory of company's tools to the trustees. Tools will be found at Mr. Strodthoff's place. Water sales $5.00. Meeting adjourned.

Special meeting of board of trustees called to order by President Zeyn.
Committee reported having inspected the route of the new completed main canal, and proposed making said canal opposite the old adobe house of Don Uinsentes Yorba's, and set stake No. 1 then at the intake of main canal, along river bed on high ground a distance of 200 yards, then stake No. 2, 200 yards further near an old tree, then in straight line to a slight rise 175 paces to sycamore tree, stake No. 3 then in straight line to river bed about 2 miles, leaving sycamore tree to left of canal. That a surveyor be engaged to survey a canal along the foregoing lines.

Zanjero reported having finished the main ditch in extension sufficient for present needs.

Resolved to postpone action on proposed new canal one week. Request of Mr. Squires that company put gates in south branch canal, so he can get water on his land, read, and decided to let Mr. Squires put in the gates under supervision of zanjero. Moved that bridge be put over Aliso street ditch between lots of Zeyn and Langenberger (Lemon st.). After some discussion, resolved to postpone action one week. Zanjero instructed to get new doors for office and zanjero room, also to look after the windows. Zanjero instructed to widen main ditch between G and H, F and G, and B-1 to the full size. Water sales $32.00. Meeting adjourned.

Committee reported having inspected ditches in extension with zanjero and finding too small to carry the stream and giving zanjero instructions about same. Report accepted and committee discharged.
Treasurer reported $236.09 cash on hand, and for distribution to old stockholders $142.00.
Zanjero reported having enlarged ditch as ordered.

Zanjero reported ditches in good condition.
Following bills ordered paid; Labor $7.50; Bittner and Strodthoff committee work, $9.00; Louis Dorr, salary, 1 month $10.00; D. W. Williams putting window lights in meeting house $4.00.
Resolved that zanjero see stockholders personally and notify them of coming general meeting. Water sales $16.00. Meeting adjourned.

Vice-president D. Strodthoff called meeting of board of trustees to order at 8 p.m. Present Bittner, Schneider, and Kuelp. Absent President Zeyn.
Minutes of last meeting read and approved.
Dr. John McDowell, former secretary of the Board of National Missions of the Presbyterian Church of America, has been elected Moderator, highest office, by the General Assembly which met at Columbus, O.
and carpenter work for meeting house, $23.27; committee services $5.00; an account book for $1.25.
A petition for bridges on Walnut street with subscription list of $20:00, up for debate. A committee presenting said petition, very forcefully put the necessity of these two bridges. Trustees decided to build said bridges, with the help of money collected by T. Boege. Decided also to build the bridge on Aliso Street between lots B-4 and B-5. Resolved, to make bridge in Los Angeles street between city lot and Konig's corner, wider and higher. Messrs. Bittner and Strodthoff appointed a committee to confer with zanjero about cost of above bridges.
Lots 47 and 48 in the extension be 40 acres belonging to John Adams bought water right of way.
Treasurer reported cash on hand $58.16, original stockholders cash $293 Mr. T. Dunn paid $20 of his right of way promised to pay balance within 3 months.
Main canal committee allowed more time.
John Fischer asked for right of way for lots 1 and 4 in extension, promised to pay same next month. Treasurer instructed to have Mr. Fischer give his note for same.
Zanjero reported all Anaheim ditches in bad condition. Zanjero's bill $56.88, ordered paid. Man at river to be allowed $1.50 per day wages. Water sales $35.00. Meeting adjourned.
Additional water sales reported $14.00.

President Zeyn called to order at 7:30 p.m. the meeting of board of trustees. Present Schneider, Strodthoff, Kuelp. Absent Bittner. Minutes of last meeting Mar. 4th, read and approved.
D. Strodthoff as committee in N. Kipp matter asked for further time granted.
Street committee reported following bills for bridges payable: D. K. Williams for lumber and work, $83.35; Huntington for lumber, $8.16; Tim Boege for hauling $17.00. Moved and second that these bills be paid. Taxes for Anaheim school district $2.00, ordered paid. The street bridge committee was discharged.
Treasurer reported $119.19 cash on hand, original cash $203.00.
Zanjero instructed to replace broken window lights in meeting house with new ones.
Secretary instructed to publish in time the notice for the annual stockholders meeting.
D. Strodthoff and F. W. Kuelp appointed to act as special committee on main canal duty.
Tim Boege turned over to the treasurer $23.00 collected for bridges. Water sales $18.00. Meeting adjourned.

D. Strodthoff was relieved of duty in the N. Kipp case and zanjero instructed to act in his place.
The main canal committee allowed further 8 days to render report.

Bailiff Sniffs Air, Howard Joins Gang
Bailiff George Graupensperger took his accustomed place in Superior Judge James L. Allen's court to watch prisoners charged with criminal complaints as they appeared before the court. From his position he also could look over the courtroom.
In walks Garden Grove's George Howard, 35, hesitatingly reaching for a seat, fumbled into it. To confirm suspicions, the bailiff sniffed the air.
Prisoner Howard walked out of the courtroom chained to the "gang". He was charged with intoxication.
Delinquent Taxes Amount to $12,000
Delinquency penalties are accruing on approximately $12,000 in taxes which remained unpaid when the 60-day moratorium ended on June 20, Miss Etta Williams, deputy tax collector, announced. The city had only $103,041 in taxes to collect for the current year, of which the delinquent figure was still out last week. During the two days following the end of the moratorium, more than $2,000 was paid.
