In the first place, the 21 acts in the main show, and the 12' side tents kept the hundreds of cash customers in a continuously good humor, they recalled. In the second place, the show was a success financially. The money has been counted and turned over to the church. To the flare of trumpets, the show, directed by H. Fenner McDowell, was opened at 8 o'clock by L. P. Bonnat as announcer while Thomas McFadden, in goatee, top hat, knee breeches and cracking a whip decreed the acts to come. Much of the success of the performance was due to his wisecracking lines and his acts with the clowns that were led by Harry Macres and Bill Payne. J. A. Clayes, principal at the Anaheim High school introduced the winner of the popularity contest having been conducted there in connection with the Society Circus, and presented Miss Ruth Beach with a silver loving cup as May Queen.
