Hands! Thousands of pairs are at work in California furniture factories—earning yearly wages of ten million dollars or more.
Helping to build and maintain these payrolls, Bank of America's resources are constantly employed in serving the furniture industry.
The furniture industry is but one of many in which Bank of America employed—throughout the year and all over California. One of Bank of America's greatest sources of strength. Does n

THE SPREAD OF CHRISTIANITY IN ASIA
Golden Text Acts 14:27
By REV. SAMUEL D. PRICE, D. D.
This Review lesson is of special importance because of the large amount comprehended in the quarter's lessons and since the regular study has been interrupted in many cases by reason of the summer vacations. Begin by reading in Acts from chapter I through 15:35. You will need your map constantly. The map that will help you most is the one that you draw as each new place is named.
Gloom incident to the crucifixion and then the Ascension of Jesus Christ was fully dispelled by the stupendous events that took place in Jerusalem on the Jewish feast of Pentecost. After the disciples had the ten-day prayer meeting the dispensation of the Holy Spirit began with the awe-inspiring manifestation, followed by the spiritually effective preaching of Peter when thousands believed that the Crucified was the Messiah and Saviour of mankind.
Preaching and personal work followed and miracles were confirming signs that attracted the attention of the people. Peter was no longer the coward to cringe before the sneer of a serving maid. The lame man was healed in the temple. When the authorities commanded that such preaching cease, Peter replied, "We must obey God rather than man."
Church organization was developed as occasion required and the order of deacons was established to give adequate attention to the worthy poor. Giving money is part of true religion. Persecutions arise because of the very successes of the early church. Deacon Stephen became the first martyr and Deacon Philip did fine work in Samaria and received a missionary to the eunuch. Believers were scattered and Saul of Tarsus was changed from chief persecutor to an ancient evangelist.

AQUEDUCT FACTS
AQUEDUCT
FACTS
Beware of Last Minute attacks upon the Colorado River Aqueduct project by selfish interests. This Aqueduct proposition has been before the people for seven years—it has been actively discussed for the past eight months. If there are valid objections to the project why were they not raised long ago?
CONSIDER THESE FACTS
1 Los Angeles and every other city in the District desperately needs Colorado River water. More than 90 per cent of our water this summer came from wells, and these wells are dropping many feet each year. All along the Coast salt water encroachments are ruining fresh water basins. We must face the truth. Unless we secure Colorado River water at the earliest possible date, we will be face to face with a disastrous water shortage.
2 Fifteen years will elapse before we will need to even begin to pay off any of the Aqueduct bonds. During the period of construction we will need to pay only the interest on bonds sold from time to time. The bonds will be repaid in a manner that will not be a burden to the people. When the Aqueduct is completed it will immediately start to produce revenue by the sale of water.
Southern California use it for both drinking and irrigation purposes. In this fertile Valley citrus groves more than 25 years old have been irrigated exclusively with Colorado River water. It has been approved by the Federal Government for drinking purposes on transcontinental trains.
5 The Aqueduct to be built by the September 29 bond issue will deliver Colorado River water ALL THE WAY from the Colorado River to EACH CITY in the Metropolitan Water District, without any extra construction cost to any city.
6 The $220,000,000 bond issue is not a Los Angeles bond issue—or the bond issue of any one city. It will be spread over the thirteen cities in the District—and each city will receive water in direct proportion to its share of the cost.
7 More than 10,000 men
will need to pay only the interest on bonds sold from time to time. The bonds will be repaid in a manner that will not be a burden to the people. When the Aqueduct is completed it will immediately start to produce revenue by the sale of water.
3 Our Metropolitan Water District has a signed contract with the United States Government whereby the Government is bound to store and deliver the water for the Aqueduct. The United States Supreme Court has upheld the Government’s right to improve and control the flow of the Colorado River.
4 Colorado River water is good water. More than 60,000 men, women and children in Imperial Valley in

7 More than 10,000 men will be given profitable employment directly on the Aqueduct job for a period of six years. Additional thousands will be employed in the manufacture and handling of materials and supplies used on the big job. According to a policy officially adopted by the District Board of Directors, only American citizens and citizens of the District are to be employed, and prevailing wages for all classes of work are to be paid.
