There is no speculation, no doubt, about the cost of water to be brought to Anaheim Metropolitan Water District by the Colorado River Aqueduct. There is no speculative quantity of water that will be brought to these Southland cities when Colorado river cities.
Anaheim now, and with Colorado river water available, will never pay as high cities. The rate in Oakland is now 26 cents per 100 cubic feet; Berkeley, 27 cents; cents. With Colorado river water available, Anaheim water will always be half of land, Berkeley, San Francisco or Alameda.

Cities to Meet Cost of 266-Millions
The cost of the Aqueduct from the Colorado river to the member cities of the met partially by taxes and partially through the sale of water. No payments of funds.
The cities now in the Metropolitan Water District are: Anaheim; Beverly Hills; Dale, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Pasadena, San Marino, Santa Ana, Santa Monica, Tampa on the Aqueduct bond issue on September 29. Five other communities, Newport and for membership in the Metropolitan district, but their applications were not made for bond election.
The Aqueduct to be built by the $220,000,000 bond issue will deliver water from the bond issue will be used to construct the following works: (1) A dam at or near Upper Parker Canyon—150 miles below Hoover Dam; (2) Main line of access to a terminal reservoir near the cities in the District; (3) Large terminal reservoir that will deliver water from reservoir to each city in the Metropolitan Water District.
NO BONDS --- NO AQUEDUCT
The U.S. government is building the Hoover Dam in the Colorado river expressly to help the states within the river basin to obtain a dependable water supply. To get our portion of the supply into Southern California, the Aqueduct is NECESSARY.
Southern California resources, and the blue and farming community can be no homes, nor from the faucets.
The Most Important Step in the Solution of the Water Problem is to Vote “YES” at the Bond Election on Seventh December.

Airplane Enters Forest Fire Fight
(Correspondence to The Gazette)
Sacramento—Combattling next year's forest fires in California by radio is the proposal of Lleut. C. A. Burrows of the division of forestry's airplane forest patrol.
The big Douglas 0-32 observation plane now used by Burrows in his "smoke chasing" expeditions throughout northern California is fully equipped for radio broadcasting. He proposes that the state equip its forestry offices in Sacramento with transmitting and receiving stations next year, so he will not be required to land in order to report fires.
Here's a case in point:
Up in Lassen county a crew of weary fire fighters rested at a camp after putting a big blaze under control. Overhead Burrowa circled the fire with his plane. Suddenly he darted down toward the camp. A white object hurtled down toward the cookatove in the cen-possibilily

1. Southern California rapidly is exhausting its present water supplies.
2. More than 90 percent of our water this summer is being pumped from rapidly dropping wells. Less than 10 percent comes from flowing streams—because these streams are dry, or almost dry.
3. We must secure Colorado river water to maintain the population, homes and factories we NOW have in Southern California—to say nothing of future growth.
4. It will require six or possibly eight years to complete the Colorado river aqueduct. We must start work immediately if we hope to have the job finished in time.
5. Our Metropolitan Water District has contracted to take water from Boulder Canyon reservoir after the dam is finished. Our aqueduct is a larger job than the Dam; it will require a longer time to complete. And yet, work on the Dam has been under way for more than a century Aqueduct should be started without delay.

Here's a case in point:
Up in Lassen county a crew of weary fire fighters rested at a camp after putting a big blaze under control. Overhead Burrows circled the fire with his plane. Suddenly he darted down toward the camp. A white object hurtled down toward the cookstove in the center of the open space. It was picked up hurriedly.
Tied in a white handkerchief, weighted with a rock, was the message: "Fire broke over lines on north side." Instantly the camp galvanized into action. A crew of men and a truck rushed to the scene. Soon the fire was again under control.
It would probably have cost more than $3,000 to suppress that fire had it broken out successfully. That sum is exactly what it costs to operate the forest fire patrol, through the cooperation of the national guard, this summer. If that one break saved the state $3000, it may be estimated that Burrows' work has saved property running into the hundreds of thousands of dollars this summer.
Burrows, a slender, pleasant young aviator, is an experienced hand at the forest patrol. He was in charge of the patrol in southern California for Uncle Sam in 1926 and 1927. His ability to spot a fire from the air is sometimes uncanny. He is enthusiastic over the
