Miss Lillian Woodward Marries L. A. Mitchell
Miss Lillian C. Woodward, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred T. Woodward, became the bride of Lawrence A. Mitchell Monday evening, the ceremony being at White Temple M. E. church, the Rev. R. W. Lee officiating.
The church altar was beautifully decorated with flowers and greenery. Mrs. Ralph W. Lee gave a group of nuptial numbers on the organ, and an instrumental trio, including Mrs. Fred Krastele, Mr. Krastle and Lawrence Sweeney, gave selections.
The bridesmaids were Mrs. Clarence Trickey, Miss Helen Troy of Fullerton, Mrs. Clyde Martin of Anaheim and Miss Geraldine Beach of Santa Ana. Miss Geraldine Woodward, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.
The best man was Clyde Martin and the ushers were Al Fernandez of Santa Ana, Allan Rains, Dr. Walter Blakely and Dan Ruff, all of Anaheim.
Paul Sloop Weds Floma Schneider
Miss Floma Schneider, daughter of Mrs. J. H. A. Schneider, became the bride of Paul Sloop at Voorhis chapel at San Dimas Sunday afternoon, the ceremony being witnessed only by a few relatives and friends. The Rev. Thomas W. H. Walker, of the First Presbyterian church, officiated.
Mrs. Kenneth Sloop gave a group of organ numbers and played the wedding march and Dr. C. O. Patterson sang "All for You" and "Because."
Miss Inez Morris was maid of honor and Miss Miriam Sloop was bridesmaid. George Sloop was best man and Arvil they returned to the Mexican resort and lost just that amount, returning home Monday morning feeling poorer than they did Saturday evening.
Epworth League at Lawn Party
Members of the White Temple Epworth League are recalling with pleasure the annual lawn party held Tuesday evening at the home of Frances Hein on Brookhurst avenue. About 30 of the members were present, enjoying games and refreshments.
Entertainment Committeeemen Charles Bush and Alma Ruth Shaw, and Refreshment Committeeemen Florence Auer, Pearl Bircher, Lela Brown and Alfred Bonney received whole-hearted thanks for their part in making the party a success. Mrs. Dora Hermance, president, called attention of those present to the Orange County Epworth League rally to be held at Fullerton park August 17.
Mission Workers Hear of India
The Missionary Society of the First Christian church at its meeting last Thursday heard of progress that is being made by missionaries of that denomination in India. Mrs. J. H. Daugherty spoke of the work of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shafer at Bllaspur, Indiana, and Mrs. J. R. McGarven told of the work being done by Mrs. F. G. Rothemel, who has taken up the work of her husband since his death four years ago.
Mrs. H. G. Carlin sang "The Shepherd Kind and True." The devotions were by Mrs. B. Carlyle and Mrs. J. F. Swindler in charge of the program. The meeting was at the home of Mrs. H. W. Pierce.

Santa Ana Guests at Outdoor Luncheon
Members of the Evangelical Missionary Society of Santa Ana were guests Friday afternoon of the Anaheim Society at an outdoor luncheon and meeting at the Anaheim City park. There were 80 members of the two societies present.
A program was given in the afternoon at which Mrs. Lena Behrens, vice-president of the Anaheim society, presided, and the devotions were led by Mrs. E. R. Weaver of Fullerton. Mrs. Joseph Witt of Santa Ana gave a reading, Mrs. Brubaker and Mrs. Johnson gave a dialogue on the mite box. Everett Schneider talked of the Passion Play, which he saw last year, and duets were sung by the Misses Hoeffer.
Masonic Picnic at Irvine Park Aug. 19
The Anaheim Masons and Eastern Star will hold a picnic at Irvine park on Wednesday night of next week. Secretary E. H. Metcalf announces it will be a basket affair and following the dinner there will be dancing. Mr. Metcalf also announced that the organization is doing no lodge work this month, the next stated meeting being on September 4.
Won $15 Dinner, But Lost It Again
Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Russell of Anaheim enjoyed a marvelous $15 dinner Saturday evening at San Diego when they celebrated Mr. Russell's winnings of that much Saturday afternoon on the horse races at Tiajuana. Sunday

Mattress Needed for Vacation Comfort
“There must be a little bit of comfort in every good little vacation,” sang A. C. Riutcel, prominent Anaheim business man, this week, as he lolled in his swimming suit on the sands at Long Beach.
It's this way: Mr. and Mrs. Riutcel motored to the Iowa "capital" last Saturday where they engaged a cottage for the following week. Upon closer study of the place, Mr. Riutcel put in a long-distance call for his son, Lloyd, to get the company truck and bring him his home mattress that very evening, "If you don't want to see me coming home every night to get a good sleep."
The mattress was delivered, pronto.

Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Ray Grimm was program leader, and Mrs. C. H. S. Hunziker and Mrs. Otto Idso spoke on Lutheran mission work among the Kurds. Mission work among Kurd children was told by Mrs. Edwin Fischer and Ray Grimm told of the needs for a missionary doctor. Twenty members and six guests attended the meeting. The next session will be held on September 3.
Dinner-Bridge for Benefit of Y. L. I.
A dinner-bridge as a benefit for the Young Ladies' Institute will be given at the Balboa beach home of Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Truxaw, this Friday evening, beginning at 6:30. Reservations may be made with Miss Anna Wisser, phone 2368.

Whalen. The new-comers have purchased an orange orchard near the Whalen home on Ball road. Mrs. Whalen and Mrs. Horst are sisters.
VACATION AT BALBOA
Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Emery of 404 North Lemon street this week declared themselves fit to do another year's hard work. They lived in a cottage at Balboa island last week, enjoyed a good eunburn, leisurely strolls along the beach, unhurried motor trips to Long Beach and Capistrano, and a long gaze at the broad Pacific. Miss Mary Melheim, sister of Mrs. Emery, who two weeks ago surprised Mrs. Emery upon arrival here, was particularly fascinated by the placid ocean.

CONCORDIA SOCIETY MEETS
About 50 members and guests of the Anaheim Concordia Society gathered at the clubhouse Monday evening for the regular monthly game of 500 and sheep's head. President H. Bremer announced that in 500 J. W. Heying walked off with first prize, with Mrs. Louise Hargrove and Mrs. John Molt capturing second and third honors, respectively. Andrew Rorden of Fullerton edged in ahead of President Bremer to take first prize in sheep's head.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry M. McPherson of Berkeley this week are visiting friends and relatives in Anaheim and vicinity, preparatory to going to Yuba City, where Mr. McPherson will be vice-principal during the next school year. Mrs. McPherson is the daughter of Mr.
