Field Meets for Citrus Sprayers
The new tank mix method of preparing oil emulsion sprays for citrus peel control will be demonstrated at three field meetings scheduled for June 30 and July 1 and 2, under the auspices of the Agricultural Extension Service and the County Agricultural Commissioner.
The new method evolved by Dr. Ralph Smith of the Citrus Experiment Station is designed to help the grower reduce his pest control costs without reducing efficiency of control. The new method will reduce cost of materials about 50 percent, according to the past year's experience in the test plots established in Orange County and other parts of Southern California.
The demonstrations will be held as follows:
Tuesday, June 30—Place of E. E. Nay, north side of Citrus avenue, second ranch east of R miles northeast of west of Yorba Linda.
Wednesday, Jul Smiley, on Garden north of Chapman north of Garden.
Thursday, July Hull, on Hewes north of Dodge South of Oran
Christian Science Lesson-Sermon
"Christian Science" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon, Sunday, in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ Scientist, in Boston, Mass. The Golden Text is from Isaiah: "Arise, shine; for the light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee."
Among the Scriptural selections in the Lesson-Sermon are other words of Isaiah: "The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined." "Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the Lord hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem. The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God."
A correlative passage from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" presents Mary Baker Eddy's statement: "Christian Science is dawning upon a material age. The great spiritual facts of being, like rays of light, shine in the darkness, though the darkness, comprehending them not, may deny their reality."

Prune and Orange
Prune and orange cup is suitable for the first course at luncheon or summer dinner. To make it for six persons you will need three oranges and eighteen prunes. The prunes should be lightly cooked and cut into quarters. Cut the oranges in half and remove the pulp with an orange spoon and then carefully clean the orange halves of all pulp so that they can be used for cups. Mix the orange and prune and chill, placing it in the orange cups again just before serving.
When the housewife finds a can of beans labeled "Oven Baked Beans," she has a right to expect beans which have undergone their entire cooking process in open or loosely covered containers in dry-heated ovens, with only enough subsequent canning and processing to sterilize the food, according to the Food and Drug Administration. Administration officials believe that such a true ton.
Some of the foods one plans in the menus may be cooked in quantity and kept in the refrigerator for a day or two, to save extra work and extra heating of the stove. Prunes, apricots, and other dried fruits; cocoa sirup; French mayonnaise or cooked salad dressing; some desserts; and roasts of meat are some of the foods which may be handled in this way. A lamb roast, for example, may be served hot at first, then as cold sliced meat, and finally in a casserole with some of its own gravy. Prunes may be first stewed for breakfast. Later in the week they may appear in prune salad, prune pie, or prune whip. Small quantities of vegetables may be put in small baking dishes or in a flat, baking dish with partitions, covered with buttered crumbs, and warmed in the oven.
