Christian Science Lesson-Sermon
“God the Only Cause and Creator” is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon, Sunday, in all branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Mass.
The Lesson-Sermon opens with the following verses from John: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” Another Scriptural selection presents these other joyous swords of John’s from his Revelation, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for the pleasure they are and were created.”
A correlative passage from the Christian Science textbook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” by Mary Baker Eddy states: “The creative Principle—Life, Truth, and Love—is God. The universe reflects God. There is but one creator and one creation. This creation consists of the unfolding of spiritual ideas and their identities, which are embraced in the infinite Mind and forever reflected. These ideas range from the infinitesimal to infinity, and the highest ideas are the sons and daughters of God.”
