WESTERN SHOE MARKET ANAHEIM ANAHEIM GAZETTE Anaheim Girls Dance Into Good Contracts A 52-week contract with the William Fox company to give specialty dances in "On Top of the World" has been signed by Miss Blanche Archer, of Anaheim, and which will take her on a long tour of the larger cities of the United States and Canada. She is to appear at Loew's State theatre, Los Angeles, for a week, beginning today, and seven more weeks will be septnt touring the Pacific coast, when she will start for the East. She will be in New York next May. During the holidays she danced in a Paradena theatre. Miss Archer is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Archer, 129 West South street, and has been dancing in many pictures in Hollywood studios. Another Anaheim girl who is a nimble and graceful dancer is Miss Olivia Wilkinson, and she and Miss Archer have done considerable team work. Miss Wilkinson is now making a tour of the country and at present is dancing in a Boston theatre. Santa Ana Slips As Wedding Mart Dan Cupid shot a shower of matrimonial darts in Orange county in 1930, but did not strike as many targets as in the year before, according to figures announced by County Clerk J. M. Backs. It seems, according to Mr. Backs, that the general business depression affected the romantic industry of getting married. But the matrimonial record of Orange county was not a poor one, for the clerk issued 3,510 licenses to as many couples, while in 1929 the number was 3,868. The general depression, however, does not account for all of the slump, much of it being charged to the California law which requires a wait of three days after a marriage license is applied for before the knot can be tied. When Boy Friend persuades his Girl Friend that the time for marriage has come, there is just no waiting, so many Orange county bridal pairs hurried to Reno, Nevada; Yuma, Arizona; or over the border into Mexico. Santa Ana, not as important as it used to be as Gretna Green.
