Summer Concerts To Begin Tonight
The American Legion band will begin its series of summer concerts at the Greek theatre tonight.
Director Ecklund announces the following program for the opening concert:
Fullerton Police
Bootleggers Given Too Much Latitude, They Claim
Hurling charges against the Fullerton police and other officials for their inefficiency and disregard for the enforcement of the eighteenth amendment.
a delegation of W. C. T. U., women of Fullerton, headed by Mrs. Carrie Ford and Mrs. L. A. Parker, demanded that some means of enforcement be encaged at once in an appeal before the city council at its regular meeting Tuesday night.
"Enforcement of the 'liquor' law is a farce in Fullerton, the speaker declared." The police know who have liquor, but they will not raid the many headquarters located in Fullerton. When a person can go down the street and smell liquor on different person's breath, it is time for the police to do something, "for or the council to dismiss the officers and appoint others who will enforce the law."
When councilmen suggested that the women give the council or the police "tips" for finding the many law violators, the women declared that they would not give any information and that it was the duty of the police to find the bootleggers or those who buy from the bootleggers.
The city council turned the entire affair over to the police committee, consisting of Councilmen W. L. Hale, chairman, and J. S. Elder, who will confer with the chief of police and make plans for some steps to combat the violators. It was suggested that detectives be employed to round up the law breakers.
Blood Trail Leads To Suspect's Arrest
Caught "red handed" in a literal as well as a figurative sense, Glen Jensen, 25, oil worker residing at 730 California avenue, Venice, is in the county jail at Santa Ana charged with burglary.
With blood on his hands and some of the alleged loot stolen from an oil well supply house at Atwood, Jensen was apprehended by Deputy Sheriff A. L. Steward Monday night when making his way from the scene of the alleged burglary. The officer's attention was attracted by Jensen's asserted unsteady operation of his automobile, due to an alleged state of intoxication.
This condition, according to Steward, had led Jensen carelessly to leave a flashlight in the wgarehouse, with blood on the flashlight, on the floor and the window pane that Jensen is alleged to have smashed out, in leaving the building.
Pipes, valves and other supplies estimated to be worth $250 on the retail market were found in Jensen's possession, Steward said. Bloody fingerprints clinched the proof of Jensen's connection with the alleged burglary, Steward claimed.

Each organization represented is asked to have a speaker tell in three minutes or less what outstanding objects have been achieved in his community, what is being done at present and planned for the near future. As each speaker will be limited to three minutes, a great deal of up-to-date data is scheduled to be made public in a short time.
A speaker will also tell in about 20 minutes, according to the notice, the important aspects of the state park program and the bond issue to be on the November ballot. As one of the proposed state park sites is in Orange county, in the Laguna district, there is considerable interest in this project.
