Jensen, 729 Zeyn street, and the other to M. D. Sowards, Erea. Every day in the week, with the exception of Sunday, the Agricultural Extension Service broadcasts a radio program over KFI, beginning at 12:15. For tomorrow the main feature will be a lecture entitled, "Controlling Cut Worms," by Roy Campbell, entomologist of the United States Department of Agriculture, while on Saturday A. Wilcox, assistant farm management demonstrator, will discuss the topic, "Principal Businesses in Regard to Agriculture." Miss Florence Backs was tendered a delightful surprise party on Friday evening by a number of her friends and schoolmates of Fullerton Junior College, the occasion being her birthday anniversary. The evening was spent in playing bridge, and later refreshments of ice cream and cake were enjoyed by the young folks. Those present were the occupants of the two machines that figured in the accident on the road to Arrowhead, just four weeks previous, when the machine in which Miss Backs was riding overturned and she and the other occupants narrowly escaped death. Rev. Charles E. Mainmann is the new rector of St. Michael's Episcopal church, having been appointed to take the place of Rev. A. G. H. Bole, who recently resigned to accept a pulpit at Pasadena. The new rector took charge of the service for the first time Sunday morning. He comes here frost San Bernardino, where he was rector of a church for many years. It is said St. Michael's congregation is planning a new building to be erected shortly. Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Trudeau, a former resident of this city, but who died at her home in Santa Ana Saturday, were held at the Backs, Terry & Campbell chapel Tuesday, the Christian Science church having charge. Burial was in Loma Vista cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. William Dolan entertained the Four-Fours Club on Thursday evening at their home on West Broadway. Mrs. Ralph McFadden and F. A. Yangbhuth won the prizes for high scores in the game of whist. A very delicious dinner was served at 7 o'clock, at which the evening was devoted to the usual game of cards. Miss Jeannette Strodthoff and Carl Wittenberg, both of Los Angeles, were married in that city at Plymouth Congregational church on Tuesday evening, in the presence of a large assemblage of friends, by Dr. Frank Dyer. The bride is the daughter of Henry Strodthoff and the granddaughter of the late Mrs. Johanna Strodthoff, one of the pioneers of Anaheim. She is also the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Fay, old-time residents of this city. After the ceremony, a reception and supper was served at the home of the bride's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Wittenberg left later for a honeymoon trip to northern points and, upon their return, will make their home at 170% South Sycamore street, Los Angeles. William Stark has been confined to his home for some time with illness. His many friends hope to see him out again shortly in enjoyment of his usual good health. Johnny Sellinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Sellinger of Orangethorpe avenue, died at his home, Wednesday morning, at the age of 13. He has been an invalid for many months. John Sollows, died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Trask, on South Lemon street, Sunday, at the age of 81. Mr. Sollows and his wife came here from their native land, Nova Scotia, five years ago. He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Trask, with whom he made his home. Funeral services were held at the funeral parishers of Hilgenfeld & Rollins, Tuesday afternoon. The case of Harry C. Mapes, Anaheim, charged with embezzlement in connection with the taking of funds from the sale of an automobile, scheduled to start in Justice Kenneth Morrison's court Monday, was continued until March 13, at the instance of the counsel...
