LIVESEY, Sr. FOR County Treasurer Primary Election August 31st ANNOUNCEMENT To the Voters of Orange County: It is my desire to serve the people of Orange County, for the next four years, as their County Treasurer. In asking for this honor, I do so with the full understanding of the importance of the office which I seek, and an assurance of my capability for performing the duties thereof in a manner satisfactory to my constituents and with honor to myself. Twenty-two Years in Orange County Although I have been a resident of this county for the past twenty-two years, and during which time I have at all times taken an active part in all matters pertaining to the betterment of the community, I am for the first time asking an office of any kind at the hands of the voters of this county. My twenty-two years in Orange County have been filled with an honest effort to make a success; fifteen years of which was engaged in the operation of a sporting goods store; the last seven years as a Real Estate Broker. President Santa Ana Board of Realtors It is with a great deal of pride that I mention here that throughout the year 1925 I served as President of the Santa Ana Board of Realtors. The records of said board for that period show that a large and enthusiastic attendance was present at each of the fifty-two or more meetings, and that many constructive measures were enacted and carried out to a successful end. Foreman of Your Grand Jury, Last Meeting I also had the honor of serving as Foreman of your Grand Jury at its last meeting, and anyone who will examine the records will find that I saved the taxpayers last year in expense of the board, $1,585.54 over the corresponding cost of the board for the year 1924, and that the operation of the board under my management cost the county quite a bit less than any previous one for the past several years. Please verify this. During my residence in this county I have, by dent of close application to business and conservative living, been able to accumulate a small amount of this world's goods; I feel that if I could be placed in such a position of trust as that which I seek—Treasurer of your County—that I would fill the office with the same degree of efficiency that I have shown in my own personal business. Qualified for Office In asking you to support me in my campaign, I do so with the firm belief that I am qualified to fill the office, due to the fact of my long residence in this county, my business career and the financial success that I have made, and promise, if elected, that I will devote my entire time and attention to the duties of the office. A Word of Appreciation I wish to thank my many friends throughout the county who have so unselfishly given their time and energy in assisting me in my campaign, and I wish to assure them personally of my deep appreciation of same. Yours for J. E. Livesey, Sr., as your next County Treasurer, I remain, Sincerely yours, J. E. LIVESEY, Sr. Santa Ana, Calif. —Adv. It was indicated by the board of supervisors, which considered the matter at the behest of Deputy District Attorney D. G. Wettlin and County Auditor William Jerome—the "friendly" contesting parties. Wettlin claims that the statute secifies that the premium should go into the building fund. Jerome says he has waft back up his contention that it should go into the interest and sinking fund. Wettlin has prepared a friendly suit against Jerome to coppel him to release the funds into the building fund. The supervisors took under advisement the matter of appointing an attorney to represent Jerome and the county treasurer, who is the custodian of the bond money. branch office, San Francisco, and others.
