CORNER PHILOSOPHY.
Legs are to be looked at, not thought of.
The closer a man is, the more distant his friends are.
"If your habit is expensive," remarked the man on the corner, "break it before it breaks you."
Poverty falls lightly on a man when he is making out his personal tax report.
Good mothers-in-law are not as scarce as cynics would have us believe, but one is enough for any man.
In a small town, after a man joins church, he is expected to lead a different life from the one everybody knows he has been leading.
Why worry about the design on the new dollar? Nearly everybody has his own design on it, anyhow.
If you feel your ears begin to burn, someone's snooping in your tax return.
One thing wrong with our homes is too many couples think a pair beats a full house.
It is better to die trying than to give up in despair and then die.
If you don't want to associate with reformers in the next world, be good in this one.
Some people save for a rainy day as if they lived in a desert.
About the best method of climbing higher is to remain on the level.
Nobody ever gets fats eating party refreshments.
It is useless to be good unless you are good for something.
WILD AND WOOLLY WEST
GONE BEYOND RECALL
The wild and woolly West of yesterday is gone forever and the ex-cowboy who lets his memories get the better of his wisdom is doomed to an enforced rest in some city's hoosegow.
A few years ago the man of the wide and open spaces who decided to put on a spectacular celebration all by his lonesome, rode his plato mustang up in front of Iirsh Mike's saloon, threw the bridle reins over the cayuse's head and went in and filled up on red eye.
After drinking up his month's wages he came out, carwled his mount and went hell-bent-for-election down the road. With the reins in his teeth, sombrero in one hand and his six-gun in the other he rode his cayuse from neck to crupper, and if the pace and the liquor were too much for him, he bit the dust, landed on the back of his neck, rolled over about fourteen times, got up sober and the celebration was over. No pedestrians were killed or injured and everything was fine and dandy.
How come we make these luminous remarks?

The happiest man in the world is the one who lets his neighbors tend to their own affairs.

About the only thing that would make a flapper blush would be to be caught with her complexion off.
A man is known by the company he keeps, and so it is well for some men to avoid being alone.
Many a man who thought he loved at first sight has been entirely cured when he took another look.

When the time comes for the meek to inherit the earth, there will probably be no oil left in it.
Wild life isn't really disappearing. It is just moving to the cities.

Happ, in his plea for mercy, told his honor that henceforth and hereafter he would ride that pinto hoss in a circumspect manner, with due regard for the public safety and with both hands on the reins.
Speaking of "Better Homes Week," we had just begun to hope they would have a "Better Stay at Home Week."

Some Women Wish They Were Like Venus de Milo—Without Hands
OTHERWISE lovely, and possessed of all the feminine charms,
many women keep their hands kidden as much as possible. No wonder they wish they were like Venus de Milo, for without hands they would be in appearance what every normal woman might hope to be.
Heavy manual labor, for which women are unfitted, destroys the shapelliness and beauty of the hands. And the most devastating of manual labors is the family washing. Stop coarsening your hands—Just telephone us. Our service washes, dries and irons everything...and does it as you want it done.
