Yungblu Home of Hart Schaffner & Marx Clothes Manhattan Shirts Stetson FARM BUREAU MEMBER DRIVE IS PROGRESSING Committees of the Farm Bureau are busy throughout the county this week on their annual membership work. They are seeking new members as well as collecting the annual dues from those who are already affiliated with the organization. During the roundup the committees are basing their appeal on the accomplishment of the Bureau for the last year, claiming that the organisation has saved farmers a 10 per cent increase on electrical energy as well as many other things. The value of the educational meetings is estimated to have benefited every farmer at least to the extent of $7.50 for the year. Water conservation, power regulation and the urging of an adequate tariff maintenance on our agricultural production is also listed as an advantage in the literature of the farm. The committees are action to the work that organization. Such thing community windling with the agriculture both legislative and it is hoped that they be increased substantial and the committees ward that end. R, STORE Merchants report that while the Christmas trade has been good this year people bought mostly useful articles. The Sisters of St. Dominic, owners of St. Catherine's cvhool, have petitioned the district court for permission to sell a portion of the real estate belonging to the order in this city. Hundreds of packages of Christmas presents were prepared by the Charity committee at the city hall yesterday for distribution among needy children. They were distributed by Hi—Y boys. Through the efforts of the teachers at the Palm street school assisted by the W. C. T. U. and the Y. L. I., the Mexican children at the school were entertained at a Christmas party Tuesday night. The ranch home of A. C. Weatherwax northeast of town, was totally destroyed by fire Saturday night. The auto, the furniture and all the clothing of the family were lost. No insurance. One thousand kiddies crowded into the California theatre Monday afternoon to witness the annual entertainment provided by the Elks and receive the presents distributed by Santa Claus. Jackie Coogan in "Circus Days" was present on the screen. A. E. Hargrove, Anaheim real estate dealer, a member of the state board, has been offered the position of Pacific Coast representative of the National Realty Board. This is an important post, and Mr. Hargrave will no doubt accept the honor. City Attorney Webb has just completed the job of codifying the numer- A. E. City Attorney Webb has just completed the job of codifying the numerous ordinances of the city, so that it is now a simple matter to turn to any law and the amendments to it adopted in later years. Mr. Webb began on the work some months ago. B. F. Moore, a Yorba Linda rancher died suddenly in a packing house at that place Monday. He had just brought in a load of lemons and was stricken with heart failure. He was one of the best known ranchers in the northern part of the county. City Attorney W. P. Webb was stricken suddenly with appendicitis Sunday afternoon. He was moved from his home to the community hospital where an operation was performed. Speedy recovery was expected after the operation, and it is reported that his condition is favorable. The Senior class of Anaheim Union High School received their class rings last week and expressed themselves as being most highly pleased with same, both as to design and to splendid quality and workmanship. The rings came from Hartfield's, the well-known Anaheim jeweler, and were secured for the class at a large saving over previous years. Mr. Hartfield imbued with the Christmas spirit gave the class a bargain impossible of duplication. Mrs. J. Edmund Snow, district president of the Parent Teacher Association, was the principal speaker at the meeting of the Eastside P. T. A. held Monday at the Lincoln school. Anouncement was made of the next district meeting which will be held in Anaheim on January 10. The Eastside and Westside P. T. A. organizations will be hostesses at the meeting and Rev. William Martin of Hollywood and Attorney Emerson Marks of Fullerton will be the chief speakers. Mrs. Hugh Bradford, State President of the P. T. A. will also be present at the district Miss Auriel Gilbert of Irvine, whose marriage to Francis Lowry of Anaheim will occur this week, was the honoree at a shower and entertainment at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Gilbert in Santa Ana. Guests present were Mr. and Mrs. A Hacklander, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Gilbert, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gilbert, Mrs. Harley Seares, Mr. C. Doughty, Mrs. Ben Aldrich, the Misses Lucille Seares, Loeta Seares, Wanda Gilbert, Geraldine Franklin, Nell Morris, Laura Hacklander, Bertha Willbrandt, Verda Saunders, Gladys Summers and J. W. Reeves, Thomas Vore, M. Tierhames and Curtis Vaught. Rev. Leon Myers, William Starbuck and A. E. Stuelke, all prominent Ku Klux, have been summoned to appear before the grand jury and substantiate the statements they have recently publicly uttered relative to the short comings of certain county officials. The three men appeared Tuesday, but, as all testimony before the grand jury is held secret it is not known what they revealed to the jury. Dr. Montgomery, head of the Anti-Saloon League, and Walter Weymouth, the federal agent who led the recent dry raid, may also be summoned to substantiate statements attributed to them.
