The Albert Rohner 10-acre ranch on Richfield boulevard, was sold last week to Leo Porter, the consideration being $45,000. According to City Clerk Merritt's records 329 babies were born in Anaheim during the year 1923, an increase of 59 over the previous year. Seventeen building permits were issued the first working day of the New Yyar by J. W. Price, building inspector. Sixteen of these permits were for dwellings. A second payment of 3½ cents per pound for culls was made Monday to members of the Anaheim Walnut Growers Association. This makes 8½ cents so far paid for culls. M. Del Giorgio and T. Falcinella have let the contract for a $15,000 garage building on South Los Angeles Street to Ridenour Bros. of Fullerton. It is being built for the Cadillac agency. Joseph Everett, aged 65, dropped dead while waiting in the ante-room of the County Hospital for treatment. Physicians pronounced his death due to heart failure. Everett was a new comer in the county, and was taken ill while seeking work at Huntington Beach. He was advised to go to the County Hospital. T. B. Talbert, chairman of the board of supervisors, who has just returned from Honolulu, appraised at the court house Tuesday clad in a Hula-Hula costume. He wore a rope skirt with anklelets, and charmed the court house bunch by playing Hawaiian air on a ukulele. Gus Penalta of El Modena was arraigned before Judge Brown Tuesday charged with reckless driving, the offense being committed on November 7. He entered a plea of guilty and was fined $25. The Free Methodists have purchased a lot at the corner of Sycamore and Claudina Streets, and are preparing to build a church. Rev. J. C. Rohrleis pastor of the church. Gordon, pumpman on section 2 of the Anaheim Union Water Co., died at his home two miles northeast of this city Tuesday last, at the age of 74. He leaves a widow but no children. Mr. Gordon was born in Ireland and came to the United States 57 years ago. Two extra carriers are expected at the postoffice within a short time, and first steps toward extending the delivery service is being taken this week. Lists of names of persons not now served are being made and within a short time, the city will have two more carriers. Bird Beebe, who has been spending a vacation with friends at Fresno, is at home again. Bird encountered considerable snow in his passage over the Tebachopi, but plowed through it. At one point he found a car loaded with ladies stalled in a snow drift. He gallantly hitched on to the stranded car and pulled them onto safe ground. The drug addict who met his death by leaping from a car in this city several days ago, and on whose person a card bearing the name, Edward Spray, was found, has been identified by means of finger prints. His name was Frank Crowe, and he has a long criminal nd prison record through Oklahoma, Arkansas and other states. Hans Salveson, one of the pioneers of Fullerton, died at his ranch home, northeast of this city Saturday, aged 78 years. He was born in Norway and came here in 1888. There was only one building on the Fullerton townsite when he arrived. He is survived by his wife, five sons and five daughters. Funeral services were held at McAulay's parlors, Fullerton, Monday, Rev. Peters, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church of this city, conducting the services. Registration for the city election will close on March 15, and if your name is not on the new great register by that date you will be debarred from voting for city officials. George Pauschet, pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Santa Ana was elected president of the Los Angeles Conference of Lutheran Ministers, in session at the Grace Lutheran Church in Anaheim. Other officers elected were J. H. Peters of Anaheim, vicepresident; H. W. Meyers of Pasadena, secretary. The conference representatives of all the Lutheran churches of Southern California were present at the conclave. A resolution calling on the State Railroad commission to grant Anaheim an interchange rate, such as enjoyed by other centers of less shipping volume in the Southland is being prepared by George W. Reid secretary of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce and was expected to be presented to the chamber last night for final approval before being sent to the State body. The matter of an interchange rate for the shippers of Anaheim has already been brought to the attention of the Santa Fe, Southern Pacific and Union Pacific railroads, but thus far no action has resulted and it is believed that at least two of these lines will seek to block the granting of the rate. In the event that this happens it will be necessary for a committee of local shippers to appear before the Railroad Commission. Alexander Rodreguez, a twelve-year old boy, was run over and seriously injured Monday by a care driven by Mrs. J. H. Daniel. Mr. and Mrs. George Brundage of Twin Falls, Idaho, have leased their ranch and town residence property in the north country and come to Southern California. They came for the benefit of Mr. Brundage's health but in all probability will locate here. At present they are staying with a daughter at Long Beach. Mrs. Brun-dage is the mother of J. E. Calkins of the Gazette office. Members of the Anaheim Realty Board at their luncheon and business session at the Cherry Blossom yesterday voted to refuse payment of the license tax assessed against them by the new city ordinance. It was argued that as real estate men are compelled to pay a license tax to the state imposition of a city tax in addition would be unjust. Unless the matter will probably be tested in court. The remains of Mrs. Anna Hilbers who died at Hooper, Nebraska, were brought to this city and funeral services held at Backs, Terry & Campbell's chapel Monday afternoon. Rev. H. G.
